The Ways Of The Righteous And The Wicked

1 Happy is the man who does not go in the company of sinners, or take his place in the way of evil-doers, or in the seat of those who do not give honour to the Lord.

1 How blessed is the man who (A)does not walk in the (B)counsel of the wicked,Nor stand in the (a)(C)path of sinners,Nor (D)sit in the seat of scoffers!

1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.

1 BOOK I(Psalms 1–41)How happy is the manwho does not follow(a) the advice of the wickedor take(b) the path of sinnersor join a group(c) of mockers!(A)

1 How blessed is the person, who does not take the advice of the wicked, who does not stand on the path with sinners, and who does not sit in the seat of mockers.

2 But whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and whose mind is on his law day and night.

2 But his (E)delight is (F)in the law of the Lord,And in His law he meditates (G)day and (H)night.

2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.

2 Instead, his delight is in the Lord’s instruction, and he meditates on it day and night.(B)

2 But he delights in the LORD's instruction, and meditates in his instruction day and night.

3 He will be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, which gives its fruit at the right time, whose leaves will ever be green; and he will do well in all his undertakings.

3 He will be like (I)a tree firmly planted by (b)streams of water,Which yields its fruit in its seasonAnd its (c)leaf does not wither; And (d)in whatever he does, (J)he prospers.

3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

3 He is like a tree planted beside streams of water(d)that bears its fruit in season(e)(C)and whose leaf does not wither.(D)Whatever he does prospers.(E)

3 He will be like a tree planted by streams of water, yielding its fruit in its season, and whose leaf does not wither. He will prosper in everything he does.

4 The evil-doers are not so; but are like the dust from the grain, which the wind takes away.

4 The wicked are not so,But they are like (K)chaff which the wind drives away.

4 The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.

4 The wicked are not like this;instead, they are like chaff that the wind blows away.(F)

4 But this is not the case with the wicked. They are like chaff that the wind blows away.

5 For this cause there will be no mercy for sinners when they are judged, and the evil-doers will have no place among the upright,

5 Therefore (L)the wicked will not stand in the (M)judgment,Nor sinners in (N)the assembly of the righteous.

5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.

5 Therefore the wicked will not survive(f) the judgment,(G)and sinners will not be in the community of the righteous.

5 Therefore the wicked will not escape judgment, nor will sinners have a place in the assembly of the righteous.

6 Because the Lord sees the way of the upright, but the end of the sinner is destruction.

6 For the Lord (e)(O)knows the way of the righteous,But the way of (P)the wicked will perish.

6 For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.

6 For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous,(H)but the way of the wicked leads to ruin.(I)

6 For the LORD knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will be destroyed.
