A Plea For Victory

1 O God, my heart is steadfast [with confident faith];I will sing, I will sing praises, even with my soul.

2 Awake, harp and lyre;I will awaken the dawn!

2 Awake, psaltery and harp: I myself will awake early.

3 I will give thanks to You, O Lord, among the peoples,And I will sing praises to You among the nations.

4 For thy mercy is great above the heavens: and thy truth reacheth unto the clouds.

4 For Your faithful love is higher than the heavens,and Your faithfulness reaches to the clouds.(D)

4 For your gracious love extends to the sky, and your faithfulness reaches to the clouds.

4 For Your lovingkindness is great and higher than the heavens;Your truth reaches to the skies.(A)

5 (D)Be exalted, O God, above the heavens,And Your glory above all the earth.

5 Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens: and thy glory above all the earth;

5 God, be exalted above the heavens,(E)and let Your glory be over the whole earth.(F)

6 (E)That Your beloved may be delivered,Save with Your right hand, and answer me!

7 God has spoken in His (b)holiness:“I will exult, I will portion out ShechemAnd measure out the valley of Succoth.

7 God hath spoken in his holiness; I will rejoice, I will divide Shechem, and mete out the valley of Succoth.

7 God has spoken in His sanctuary:(c)“I will triumph!I will divide up Shechem.(H)I will apportion the Valley of Succoth.(I)

7 God had promised in his sanctuary: "I will triumph and divide Shechem, then I will measure the valley of Succoth!

7 God has spoken in His (a)holiness:“I will rejoice, I will portion out Shechem [as I divide Canaan among My people],And measure out the Valley of Succoth.

8 “Gilead is Mine, Manasseh is Mine;Ephraim also is the (c)helmet of My head;(F)Judah is My (d)scepter.

8 Gilead is mine; Manasseh is mine; Ephraim also is the strength of mine head; Judah is my lawgiver;

8 Gilead is Mine, Manasseh is Mine,and Ephraim is My helmet;(J)Judah is My scepter.(K)

8 Gilead and Manasseh belong to me, while Ephraim is my chief stronghold and Judah is my scepter.

8 “Gilead is Mine, Manasseh is Mine;Ephraim also is the helmet of My head [My stronghold, My defense];Judah is My (b)scepter.(B)

9 “Moab is My washbowl;Over Edom I shall throw My shoe;Over Philistia I will shout aloud.”

9 Moab is my washpot; over Edom will I cast out my shoe; over Philistia will I triumph.

9 Moab is My washbasin;(L)I throw My sandal on Edom.(M)I shout in triumph over Philistia.”(N)

9 Moab is my washbasin; I will fling my shoe on Edom and shout over Philistia."

10 Who will bring me into the strong city? who will lead me into Edom?

10 Who will bring me to the fortified city?Who will lead me to Edom?(O)

10 Who will lead me to the fortified city? Who will lead me as far as Edom?

10 Who will bring me into the fortified city [of Petra]?Who will lead me to Edom?

11 Have not You Yourself, O God, (H)rejected us?And will You not go forth with our armies, O God?

11 Wilt not thou, O God, who hast cast us off? and wilt not thou, O God, go forth with our hosts?

11 God, haven’t You rejected us?God, You do not march out with our armies.(P)

11 God, you have rejected us, have you not, since you did not march out with our army, God?

11 Have You not rejected us, O God?And will You not go out, O God, with our armies?

12 Oh give us help against the adversary,For (I)deliverance (f)by man is in vain.

12 Give us help from trouble: for vain is the help of man.

12 Give us aid against the foe,for human help is worthless.(Q)

12 Give us help against the enemy, because human help is useless.

12 Give us help against the adversary,For deliverance by man is in vain [a worthless hope].

13 (g)Through God we will do valiantly,And (J)it is He who shall tread down our adversaries.

13 Through God we shall do valiantly: for he it is that shall tread down our enemies.

13 With God we will perform valiantly;(R)He will trample our foes.(S)
