Praise For Deliverance

1 For the choir director. Of the servant of the Lord, David, who spoke the words of this song to the Lord on the day the Lord rescued him from the hand of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul.(A) He said:I love You, Lord, my strength.

1 For the choir director. A Psalm of David the servant of the Lord, (a)who spoke to the Lord the words of this song in the day that the Lord delivered him from the hand of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul. And he said,“I love You, O Lord, (A)my strength.”

1 {To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David, the servant of the LORD, who spake unto the LORD the words of this song in the day that the LORD delivered him from the hand of all his enemies, and from the hand of Saul: And he said,} I will love thee, O LORD, my strength.

1 He said: "I love you, Lord, my strength.

1 “I love You [fervently and devotedly], O Lord, my strength.”

2 The Lord is my rock,my fortress, and my deliverer,(B)my God, my mountain where I seek refuge,my shield(C) and the horn of my salvation,(D)my stronghold.

2 The Lord is (B)my (b)rock and (C)my fortress and my (D)deliverer,My God, my rock, in whom I take refuge;My (E)shield and the (F)horn of my salvation, my (G)stronghold.

2 The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.

2 The LORD is my rock, my fortress, my deliverer, my God, my stronghold in whom I take refuge, my shield, the glory of my salvation, and my high tower."

3 I called to the Lord, who is worthy of praise,(E)and I was saved from my enemies.(F)

4 The cords of death entangled me; the rivers of Belial made me afraid.

4 The cords of death surrounded me,And the streams of ungodliness and torrents of destruction terrified me.

5 The ropes of Sheol entangled me;the snares of death confronted me.(H)

5 The sorrows of hell compassed me about: the snares of death prevented me.

6 I called to the Lord in my distress,and I cried to my God for help.From His temple He heard my voice,(I)and my cry to Him reached His ears.(J)

7 Then the earth shook and quaked;the foundations of the mountains trembled;(K)they shook because He burned with anger.

7 Then the earth shook and trembled; the foundations also of the hills moved and were shaken, because he was wroth.

7 The world shook and trembled; the foundations of the mountains quaked, they shook because he was angry.

7 Then the earth shook and quaked,The foundations of the mountains trembled;They were shaken because He was indignant and angry.

8 Smoke rose from His nostrils,and consuming fire came from His mouth;coals were set ablaze by it.(a)(L)

8 Smoke went up (f)out of His nostrils,And (R)fire from His mouth devoured;Coals were kindled by it.

8 There went up a smoke out of his nostrils, and fire out of his mouth devoured: coals were kindled by it.

8 In his anger smoke poured out of his nostrils, and consuming fire from his mouth; coals were lit from it.

8 Smoke went up from His nostrils,And fire from His mouth devoured;Coals were kindled by it.

9 He parted the heavens and came down,(M)a dark cloud beneath His feet.

9 He (S)bowed the heavens also, and came downWith thick (T)darkness under His feet.

11 He made darkness His hiding place,dark storm clouds His canopy around Him.(O)

11 He made darkness his secret place; his pavilion round about him were dark waters and thick clouds of the skies.

12 From the radiance of His presence,(P)His clouds swept onward with hail and blazing coals.

12 At the brightness that was before him his thick clouds passed, hail stones and coals of fire.

12 The brightness before him scattered the thick clouds, with hail stones and flashes of fire.

12 Out of the brightness before Him passed His thick clouds,Hailstones and coals of fire.

13 The Lord thundered from(b) heaven;the Most High projected His voice.(c)(Q)

13 The Lord also (AA)thundered in the heavens,And the Most High uttered His voice,Hailstones and coals of fire.

13 The LORD also thundered in the heavens, and the Highest gave his voice; hail stones and coals of fire.

13 Then the LORD thundered in the heavens, and the Most High sounded aloud, calling for hail stones and flashes of fire.

13 The Lord also thundered in the heavens,And the Most High uttered His voice,Hailstones and coals of fire.

14 He shot His arrows and scattered them;He hurled(d) lightning bolts and routed them.(R)

14 He (AB)sent out His arrows, and scattered them,And lightning flashes in abundance, and (h)routed them.

14 Yea, he sent out his arrows, and scattered them; and he shot out lightnings, and discomfited them.

14 He shot his arrows and scattered them; with many lightning bolts he frightened them.

15 The depths of the sea became visible,the foundations of the world were exposed,at Your rebuke, Lord,at the blast of the breath of Your nostrils.(S)

15 Then the (AC)channels of water appeared,And the foundations of the world were (i)laid bareAt Your (AD)rebuke, O Lord,At the blast of the (AE)breath of Your nostrils.

15 Then the channels of waters were seen, and the foundations of the world were discovered at thy rebuke, O LORD, at the blast of the breath of thy nostrils.

15 Then the channels of the sea could be seen, and the foundations of the earth were uncovered because of your rebuke, LORD, because of the blast from the breath of your nostrils.

15 Then the stream beds of the waters appeared,And the foundations of the world were laid bareAt Your rebuke, O Lord,At the blast of the breath of Your nostrils.

16 He reached down from heavenand took hold of me;He pulled me out of deep waters.(T)

16 He (AF)sent from on high, He took me;He drew me out of (AG)many waters.

21 For I have kept the ways of the Lordand have not turned from my God to wickedness.(AA)

25 With the faithfulYou prove Yourself faithful;with the blameless manYou prove Yourself blameless;

25 With the merciful thou wilt shew thyself merciful; with an upright man thou wilt shew thyself upright;

25 To the holy, you show your gracious love, to the upright, you show yourself upright;

25 With the kind (merciful, faithful, loyal) You show Yourself kind,With the blameless You show Yourself blameless,

26 with the pureYou prove Yourself pure,but with the crookedYou prove Yourself shrewd.(AF)

26 With the pure You show Yourself (AY)pure,And with the crooked (AZ)You show Yourself (l)astute.

26 With the pure thou wilt shew thyself pure; and with the froward thou wilt shew thyself froward.

26 to the pure, you show yourself pure, and to the morally corrupt, you appear to be perverse.

26 With the pure You show Yourself pure,And with the crooked You show Yourself astute.

27 For You rescue an afflicted people,(AG)but You humble those with haughty eyes.(AH)

27 For You (BA)save an afflicted people,But (BB)haughty eyes You abase.

27 For thou wilt save the afflicted people; but wilt bring down high looks.

27 Indeed, you deliver the oppressed, but you bring down those who exalt themselves in their own eyes.

27 For You save an afflicted and humble people,But bring down those [arrogant fools] with haughty eyes.

28 Lord, You light my lamp;my God illuminates my darkness.(AI)

28 For thou wilt light my candle: the LORD my God will enlighten my darkness.

28 For you, LORD, make my lamp shine; my God enlightens my darkness.

29 With You I can attack a barrier,(f)and with my God I can leap over a wall.(AJ)

29 For by You I can (m)(BE)run upon a troop;And by my God I can (BF)leap over a wall.

29 For by thee I have run through a troop; and by my God have I leaped over a wall.

29 With your help I will run through an army, with help from my God I leap over walls.

30 God—His way is perfect;(AK)the word of the Lord is pure.(AL)He is a shield to all who take refuge in Him.(AM)

30 As for God, His way is (n)(BG)blameless;The (BH)word of the Lord is tried;He is a (BI)shield to all who take refuge in Him.

30 As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him.

31 For who is God but the LORD, and who is a Rock other than our God?

32 God—He clothes me with strength(AP)and makes my way perfect.

32 The God who (BL)girds me with strengthAnd (o)makes my way (p)(BM)blameless?

32 It is God that girdeth me with strength, and maketh my way perfect.

32 the God who clothes me with strength, and who makes my way upright;

32 The God who encircles me with strengthAnd makes my way blameless?

33 He makes my feet like the feet of a deer(AQ)and sets me securely on the heights.(g)(AR)

43 You have freed me from the feuds among the people;You have appointed me the head of nations;(BH)a people I had not known serve me.(BI)

43 You have delivered me from the (CH)contentions of the people;You have placed me as (CI)head of the nations;A (CJ)people whom I have not known serve me.

43 Thou hast delivered me from the strivings of the people; and thou hast made me the head of the heathen: a people whom I have not known shall serve me.

43 You rescued me from conflict with the people; you made me head of the nations. People who did not know me will serve me.

43 You have rescued me from the contentions of the people;You have placed me as the head of the nations;A people whom I have not known serve me.

44 Foreigners submit to me grudgingly;as soon as they hear,(j) they obey me.(BJ)

44 As soon as they hear, they obey me;Foreigners (u)(CK)submit to me.

44 As soon as they hear of me, they shall obey me: the strangers shall submit themselves unto me.

44 When they hear of me, they will obey me; foreigners will submit to me.

44 As soon as they hear me, they respond and obey me;Foreigners feign obedience to me.

45 Foreigners lose heartand come trembling from their fortifications.(BK)

45 Foreigners (CL)fade away,And (CM)come trembling out of their (v)fortresses.

45 The strangers shall fade away, and be afraid out of their close places.

45 Foreigners will wilt away; they will come trembling out of their stronghold.

45 Foreigners lose heart,And come trembling out of their strongholds.

46 The Lord lives—may my rock be praised!The God of my salvation is exalted.(BL)

46 The Lord (CN)lives, and blessed be (CO)my rock;And exalted be (CP)the God of my salvation,

46 The LORD liveth; and blessed be my rock; and let the God of my salvation be exalted.

46 The LORD lives! Blessed be my Rock! May the God of my deliverance be exalted!

47 God—He gives me vengeance(BM)and subdues peoples under me.(BN)

47 The God who (CQ)executes vengeance for me,And (CR)subdues peoples under me.

47 It is God that avengeth me, and subdueth the people under me.

47 He is the God who executes vengeance on my behalf; who destroys nations under me;

47 The God who avenges me,And subdues peoples (nations) under me.

48 He frees me from my enemies.You exalt me above my adversaries;You rescue me from violent men.(BO)

48 He (CS)delivers me from my enemies;Surely You (CT)lift me above those who rise up against me;You rescue me from the (CU)violent man.

48 He delivereth me from mine enemies: yea, thou liftest me up above those that rise up against me: thou hast delivered me from the violent man.

49 Therefore I will praise You, Yahweh, among the nations;I will sing about Your name.(BP)

49 Therefore will I give thanks unto thee, O LORD, among the heathen, and sing praises unto thy name.

50 He gives great victories to His king;(BQ)He shows loyalty to His anointed,to David and his descendants forever.(BR)

50 He gives great (w)(CX)deliverance to His king,And shows lovingkindness to (CY)His anointed,To David and (CZ)his (x)descendants forever.

50 Great deliverance giveth he to his king; and sheweth mercy to his anointed, to David, and to his seed for evermore.

50 He is the one who gives victories to his king; who shows gracious love to his anointed, to David and his seed forever. To the Director: A Davidic Psalm.

50 He gives great triumphs to His king,And shows steadfast love and mercy to His anointed,To David and his descendants forever.(D)
