2 As smoke is driven, thou wilt drive them away; as wax melteth before the fire, the wicked shall perish at the presence of God.

5 A father of the fatherless, and a judge of the widows, is God in his holy habitation.

6 God maketh the solitary into families; those that were bound he bringeth out into prosperity: but the rebellious dwell in a parched land.

7 O God, when thou wentest forth before thy people, when thou didst march through the wilderness (Selah) --

8 The earth trembled, the heavens also dropped at the presence of God, yon Sinai, at the presence of God, the God of Israel.

8 The earth shook, the heavens also dropped at the presence of God: even Sinai itself was moved at the presence of God, the God of Israel.

8 the land quaked. Indeed, the heavens poured down rain from the presence of God, this God of Sinai, from the presence of God, the God of Israel.

9 Thou, O God, didst pour a plentiful rain upon thine inheritance, and when it was weary thou strengthenedst it.

9 You (U)shed abroad a plentiful rain, O God;You confirmed Your inheritance when it was (j)parched.

9 Thou, O God, didst send a plentiful rain, whereby thou didst confirm thine inheritance, when it was weary.

9 You, God, showered abundant rain;You revived Your inheritance when it languished.(H)

9 God, you poured out abundant rain on your inheritance. When Israel was weary, you sustained her.

10 Thy flock hath dwelt therein: thou hast prepared in thy goodness, for the afflicted, O God!

10 Your creatures settled in it;You (V)provided in Your goodness for the poor, O God.

10 Thy congregation hath dwelt therein: thou, O God, hast prepared of thy goodness for the poor.

10 Your people settled in it;God, You provided for the poor by Your goodness.(I)

10 Your people live there; you sustain the needy with your goodness, God.

11 The Lord gives the word: great the host of the publishers.

11 The Lord gives the (k)command;The (W)women who proclaim the good tidings are a great host:

11 The Lord gave the word: great was the company of those that published it.

11 The Lord gave the command;a great company of women brought the good news:(J)

11 The Lord issues a command. Numerous are the women who announce the news:

12 Kings of armies flee; they flee, and she that tarrieth at home divideth the spoil.

12 (X)Kings of armies flee, they flee,And she who remains at home will (Y)divide the spoil!”

12 Kings of armies did flee apace: and she that tarried at home divided the spoil.

13 Though ye have lain among the sheepfolds, ye shall be as wings of a dove covered with silver, and her feathers with green gold.

13 Though ye have lien among the pots, yet shall ye be as the wings of a dove covered with silver, and her feathers with yellow gold.

13 When you men lie down among the sheepfolds, you are like the wings of the dove covered with silver, with its feathers in glittering gold."

14 When the Almighty scattered kings in it, it became snow-white as Zalmon.

15 As mount Bashan is the mount of God, a many-peaked mountain, as mount Bashan.

15 The hill of God is as the hill of Bashan; an high hill as the hill of Bashan.

15 Mount Bashan is God’s towering mountain;Mount Bashan is a mountain of many peaks.(N)

16 Why do ye look with envy, ye many-peaked mountains, upon the mount that God hath desired for his abode? yea, Jehovah will dwell there for ever.

16 Why do you look with envy, O mountains with many peaks,At the mountain which God has (AD)desired for His abode?Surely (AE)the Lord will dwell there forever.

16 Why leap ye, ye high hills? this is the hill which God desireth to dwell in; yea, the LORD will dwell in it for ever.

16 You mountains of many peaks, why do you watch with envy the mountain in which God has chosen to dwell? Indeed, the LORD will live there forever.

17 The chariots of God are twenty thousand, thousands upon thousands; the Lord is among them: it is a Sinai in holiness.

17 The (AF)chariots of God are (p)myriads, (AG)thousands upon thousands;(q)The Lord is among them as at Sinai, in holiness.

17 The chariots of God are twenty thousand, even thousands of angels: the Lord is among them, as in Sinai, in the holy place.

17 God's chariots were many thousands. The Lord was there with them at Sinai in holiness.

18 Thou hast ascended on high, thou hast led captivity captive: thou hast received gifts in Man, and even for the rebellious, for the dwelling there of Jah Elohim.

18 You have (AH)ascended on high, You have (AI)led captive Your captives;You have received gifts among men,Even among the rebellious also, that (r)the Lord God may dwell there.

18 Thou hast ascended on high, thou hast led captivity captive: thou hast received gifts for men; yea, for the rebellious also, that the LORD God might dwell among them.

18 You ascended to the heights, taking away captives;You received gifts from(j) people,even from the rebellious,so that the Lord God might live there.(k)(R)

18 You ascended to the heights, you took captives. You received gifts among mankind, even the rebellious, so the LORD God may live there.

19 Blessed be the Lord: day by day doth he load us with good, the God who is our salvation. Selah.

20 Our God is the God of salvation; and with Jehovah, the Lord, are the goings forth even from death.

20 He that is our God is the God of salvation; and unto GOD the Lord belong the issues from death.

20 God is for us the God of our deliverance. The Lord GOD rescues us from death.

21 Verily God will smite the head of his enemies, the hairy scalp of him that goeth on still in his trespasses.

21 Surely God will (AN)shatter the head of His enemies,The hairy crown of him who goes on in his guilty deeds.

21 But God shall wound the head of his enemies, and the hairy scalp of such an one as goeth on still in his trespasses.

21 Surely God crushes the heads of His enemies,the hairy head of one who goes on in his guilty acts.(U)

21 God surely strikes the heads of his enemies, even the hairy heads of those who continue in their guilt.

22 The Lord said, I will bring again from Bashan, I will bring them again from the depth of the sea;

22 The Lord (u)said, “(AO)I will bring them back from Bashan.I will bring them back from the depths of the sea;

22 The Lord said, I will bring again from Bashan, I will bring my people again from the depths of the sea:

22 The Lord said, “I will bring them back from Bashan;I will bring them back from the depths of the sea(V)

22 The Lord says, "From Bashan I will bring them, I will bring them from the depths of the sea,

23 That thou mayest dip thy foot in blood: the tongue of thy dogs has its portion from enemies.

23 That (v)(AP)your foot may shatter them in blood,The tongue of your (AQ)dogs may have its portion from your enemies.”

23 That thy foot may be dipped in the blood of thine enemies, and the tongue of thy dogs in the same.

23 so that your foot may wade(l) in bloodand your dogs’ tongues may have their sharefrom the enemies.”(W)

23 that your feet may wade through blood. The tongues of your dogs will have their portions from your enemies."

24 They have seen thy goings, O God, the goings of my God, my King, in the sanctuary.

24 They have seen (AR)Your (w)procession, O God,The (x)procession of my God, my King, (y)(AS)into the sanctuary.

24 They have seen thy goings, O God; even the goings of my God, my King, in the sanctuary.

25 The singers went before, the players on stringed instruments after, in the midst of maidens playing on tabrets.
