Prayer Against Enemies

1 A song of chanting to Asaph. O God, not stillness to thee: thou wilt not be silent, and thou wilt not rest, O God.

1 God, do not rest! Don't be silent! Don't stay inactive, God!

2 For behold, thine enemies will be clamorous; and they hating thee lifted up the head.

2 For behold, Your enemies (C)make an uproar,And (D)those who hate You have (a)(E)exalted themselves.

2 For, lo, thine enemies make a tumult: and they that hate thee have lifted up the head.

2 See how Your enemies make an uproar;those who hate You have acted arrogantly.(a)(C)

2 See! Your enemies rage; those who hate you issue threats.

3 Against thy people they will make crafty consultation, and they will counsel against thy hidden ones.

3 They (F)make shrewd plans against Your people,And (b)conspire together against (G)Your (c)treasured ones.

3 They have taken crafty counsel against thy people, and consulted against thy hidden ones.

3 They devise clever schemes against Your people;they conspire against Your treasured ones.(D)

4 They said, Come, and we will cut them off from a nation; and the name of Israel shall no more be remembered.

5 For they counseled together with the heart: they will cut out a covenant against thee:

5 Indeed, they shrewdly planned together, forming an alliance against you

7 Gebel and Ammon and Amalek; the rovers with the inhabitants of Tyre;

10 They were destroyed at the fountain of the dwelling: they were dung to the earth.

12 Who said, We will inherit for us the dwellings of God.

12 Who said, Let us take to ourselves the houses of God in possession.

13 O my God, set them as a wheel; as straw before the wind.

13 God, set them up like dried thistles, like straw before the wind.

14 As fire will burn the forest, and as the flame will cause the mountains to burn.

14 As the fire burneth a wood, and as the flame setteth the mountains on fire;

14 As fire burns a forest,as a flame blazes through mountains,(S)

14 Like a fire burning a forest, and a flame setting mountains ablaze.

15 So wilt thou pursue them with thy tempest, and thew wilt terrify them with thy whirlwind:

15 So pursue them (AG)with Your tempestAnd terrify them with Your storm.

15 So persecute them with thy tempest, and make them afraid with thy storm.

16 Fill their face with contempt, and they shall seek thy name, O Jehovah.

17 They shall be ashamed and terrified, even to forever; and they shall be put to shame and perish.

17 Let them be confounded and troubled for ever; yea, let them be put to shame, and perish:

17 Let them be put to shame and terrified forever;let them perish in disgrace.(V)

17 Let them be humiliated and terrified permanently until they die in shame.

18 And they shall know that thou, thy name Jehovah alone, the Most High over all the earth.

18 That they may (AJ)know that (AK)You alone, whose name is the Lord,Are the (AL)Most High over all the earth.

18 That men may know that thou, whose name alone is JEHOVAH, art the most high over all the earth.

18 May they know that You alone—whose name is Yahweh—are the Most High over all the earth.(W)
