8 He says, "Do not be stubborn like they were at Meribah, like they were that day at Massah in the wilderness,

8 Harden not your heart, as in the provocation, and as in the day of temptation in the wilderness:

8 Do not harden your hearts, as at (f)(P)Meribah,As in the day of (g)(Q)Massah in the wilderness,

8 Do not harden your hearts as at Meribah,as on that day at Massah in the wilderness(I)

8 do not be stubborn like your ancestors were at Meribah, as on that day at Massah, in the wilderness,

9 where your ancestors challenged my authority, and tried my patience, even though they had seen my work.

9 When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my work.

9 “When your fathers (R)tested Me,They tried Me, though they had seen My work.

9 where your fathers tested Me;they tried Me, though they had seen what I did.(J)

9 where your ancestors tested me. They tested me, even though they had seen my awesome deeds.

10 For forty years I was continually disgusted with that generation, and I said, 'These people desire to go astray; they do not obey my commands.'

10 Forty years long was I grieved with this generation, and said, It is a people that do err in their heart, and they have not known my ways:

10 “For (S)forty years I loathed that generation,And said they are a people who err in their heart,And they do not know My ways.

10 For 40 years I was disgusted with that generation;I said, “They are a people whose hearts go astray;they do not know My ways.”(K)

10 For forty years I loathed that generation, so I said, "They are a people whose hearts continuously err, and they have not understood my ways."

11 So I made a vow in my anger, 'They will never enter into the resting place I had set aside for them.'"

11 Unto whom I sware in my wrath that they should not enter into my rest.

11 “Therefore I (T)swore in My anger,Truly they shall not enter into My (U)rest.”

11 So I swore in My anger,“They will not enter My rest.”(L)

11 So in my anger I declared an oath: "They are not to enter my place of rest."
