A Call To Worship And Obey

⁷ For he is our God; we are the people of his pasture, the sheep he owns. Today, if only you would obey him! ⁸ He says, "Do not be stubborn like they were at Meribah, like they were that day at Massah in the wilderness, ⁹ where your ancestors challenged my authority, and tried my patience, even though they had seen my work.

Exodus 17:7

He called the name of the place Massah and Meribah, because of the contending of the Israelites and because of their testing the Lord, saying, "Is the Lord among us or not?"

Numbers 20:13

These are the waters of Meribah, because the Israelites contended with the Lord, and his holiness was maintained among them.

Deuteronomy 6:16

You must not put the Lord your God to the test as you did at Massah.

Why harden your hearts like the Egyptians and Pharaoh did? When God treated them harshly, didn't the Egyptians send the Israelites on their way?
