1 Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, a called apostle, separated unto the glad-message of God -
1 Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God,
1 From: Paul, a servant of Jesus the Messiah, called to be an apostle and set apart for God's gospel,
2 Which he promised beforehand, through his prophets, in holy scriptures -
2 (Which he had promised afore by his prophets in the holy scriptures,)
2 which he promised beforehand through his prophets in the Holy Scriptures
3 Concerning his Son, - who came to be of the seed of David, according to flesh,
3 Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh;
3 regarding his Son. He was a descendant of David with respect to his humanity
4 Who was distinguished as the Son of God - by power, according to a Holy Spirit, through means of a resurrection of the dead, - Jesus Christ our Lord;
4 And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead:
4 and was declared by the resurrection from the dead to be the powerful Son of God according to the spirit of holiness Jesus the Messiah, our Lord.
5 Through whom we have received favour and apostleship, for obedience of faith among all the nations, in behalf of his name,
5 By whom we have received grace and apostleship, for obedience to the faith among all nations, for his name:
5 Through him we received grace and a commission as an apostle to bring about faithful obedience among all the gentiles for the sake of his name.
6 Among whom are, ye also, called of Jesus Christ:
6 Among whom are ye also the called of Jesus Christ:
6 You, too, are among those who have been called to belong to Jesus the Messiah.
7 Unto all that are in Rome, beloved of God, called saints, favour unto you, and peace, from God our Father and Lord Jesus Christ.
7 To all that be in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.
7 To: Everyone in Rome, loved by God and called to be holy. May grace and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus, the Messiah, be yours!
8 First, indeed, I give thanks unto my God, through Jesus Christ, concerning you all, because your faith is being announced throughout the whole world.
8 First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all, that your faith is spoken of throughout the whole world.
8 First of all, I thank my God through Jesus the Messiah for all of you, because the news about your faith is being reported throughout the world.
9 For God is, my witness, - unto whom I am rendering divine service in my spirit, in the glad message of his Son, - how incessantly, I am making mention of you
9 For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of his Son, that without ceasing I make mention of you always in my prayers;
9 For God, whom I serve with my spirit by preaching the gospel about his Son, is my witness how constantly I mention you
10 At all times in my prayers, - making supplication - if, by some means, even now, at any time, I may have a way opened, in the will of God, to come unto you;
10 Making request, if by any means now at length I might have a prosperous journey by the will of God to come unto you.
10 in my prayers at all times, asking that somehow by God's will I may at last succeed in coming to you.
11 For I am longing to see you, that I may impart some spiritual gift unto you, to the end ye may be established, -
11 For I long to see you, that I may impart unto you some spiritual gift, to the end ye may be established;
11 For I am longing to see you so that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to make you strong,
12 That is to say - there may be a mutual encouragement among you, each by the other's faith, both yours and mine.
12 that is, that I may be encouraged together with you while among you, each of us by the other’s faith, both yours and mine.
12 That is, that I may be comforted together with you by the mutual faith both of you and me.
12 that is, to be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith, both yours and mine.
12 that is, that we may be mutually encouraged by each other's faith, both yours and mine.
13 I do not wish however that ye should be ignorant, brethren, that, many times, have I purposed to come unto you, but have been hindered, until the present, - in order that, some fruit, I might have among you also, even as among the other nations,
13 (W)I do not want you to be unaware, (X)brethren, that often I (Y)have planned to come to you (and have been prevented so far) so that I may obtain some (Z)fruit among you also, even as among the rest of the Gentiles.
13 Now I would not have you ignorant, brethren, that oftentimes I purposed to come unto you, (but was let hitherto,) that I might have some fruit among you also, even as among other Gentiles.
13 Now I want you to know,(h)(W) brothers, that I often planned to come to you (but was prevented until now(X)) in order that I might have a fruitful ministry(i) among you,(Y) just as among the rest of the Gentiles.
13 I do not want you to be unaware, brothers, that I often planned to come to you (but have been prevented from doing so until now), so that I might reap a harvest among you, just as I have among the rest of the gentiles.
14 Both to Greeks and to Barbarians, both to wise and to unwise, a debtor, I am:
14 I am debtor both to the Greeks, and to the Barbarians; both to the wise, and to the unwise.
14 Both to Greeks and to barbarians, both to wise and to foolish people, I am a debtor.
15 Thus, the eagerness on my part - unto you also who are in Rome, to announce the joyful message.
15 So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel to you that are at Rome also.
15 That is why I am so eager to proclaim the gospel to you who live in Rome, too.
16 For I am not ashamed of the joyful message; for it is God's power unto salvation, to every one that believeth, both to Jew firstand to Greek;
16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is God's power for the salvation of everyone who believes, of the Jew first and of the Greek as well.
17 For, a righteousness of God, is therein revealed, - by faith unto faith: even as it is written - But, he that is righteous, by faith, shall live.
17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.
17 For in the gospel God's righteousness is being revealed from faith to faith, as it is written, "The righteous will live by faith."
18 For there is being revealed an anger of God from heaven - against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who, the truth, in unrighteousness, do hold down; -
18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
18 For God's wrath is being revealed from heaven against all the ungodliness and wickedness of those who in their wickedness suppress the truth.
19 Inasmuch as, what may be known of God, is manifest among them, for, God, unto them, hath made it manifest, -
19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.
19 For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God himself has made it plain to them.
20 For, the unseen things of him, from a world's creation, by the things made, being perceived, are clearly seen, even his eternal power and divinity, - to the end they should be without excuse;
20 For (AM)since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, (AN)being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse.
20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
20 For His invisible attributes, that is, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen since the creation of the world,(AK) being understood through what He has made.(AL) As a result, people are without excuse.
20 For since the creation of the world God's invisible attributes his eternal power and divine nature have been understood and observed by what he made, so that people are without excuse.
21 Inasmuch as, having come to know God, not, as God, did they glorify him, or give him thanks, but were made fruitless in their reasonings, and darkened was their undiscerning heart,
21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
21 For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him. Instead, their thoughts turned to worthless things, and their senseless hearts were darkened.
23 And, exchanged the glory of the incorruptible God, for the likeness of an image of a corruptible man, and of birds and fourfooted beasts and reptiles:
23 And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.
23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images that looked like mortal human beings, birds, four-footed animals, and reptiles.
24 Wherefore God gave them up in the covetings of their hearts unto impurity, so as to be dishonouring their bodies among them, -
24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:
24 For this reason, God delivered them to sexual impurity as they followed the lusts of their hearts and dishonored their bodies with one another.
25 Who, indeed, exchanged away the truth of God for the falsehood, and rendered worship and service unto the creature rather than unto the Creator, - who is blessed unto the ages. Amen!
25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
25 They exchanged God's truth for a lie and worshipped and served the creation rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.
26 For this cause, God gave them up unto dishonourable passions; for, even their females, exchanged away the natural use into that which is against nature, -
26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
26 For this reason, God delivered them to degrading passions as their females exchanged their natural sexual function for one that is unnatural.
27 In like manner also, even the males, leaving the natural use of the female, flamed out in their eager desire one for another, males with males, the indecency, effecting, - and, the necessary recompence of their error, within themselves, duly receiving; -
27 and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, (AX)men with men committing (s)indecent acts and receiving in (t)their own persons the due penalty of their error.
27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.
27 The males in the same way also left natural relations(q) with females and were inflamed in their lust for one another. Males committed shameless acts with males(AT) and received in their own persons(r) the appropriate penalty of their error.
27 In the same way, their males also abandoned their natural sexual function toward females and burned with lust toward one another. Males committed indecent acts with males, and received within themselves the appropriate penalty for their perversion.
28 And, even as they did not approve to be holding, God, in acknowledgment, God gave them up unto a disapproved mind to be doing the things that are not becoming,
28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
28 And because they did not think it worthwhile to acknowledge God, God delivered them over to a worthless mind to do what is morally wrong.
28 Furthermore, because they did not think it worthwhile to keep knowing God fully, God delivered them to degraded minds to perform acts that should not be done.
29 Filled with all unrighteousness, wickedness, greed, baseness, full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil disposition,
29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,
29 They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed, and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, quarreling, deceit, and viciousness. They are gossips,
30 Whisperers, detractors, haters of God, insolent, arrogant, vain boasters, inventors of vices, unto parents unyielding,
30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
30 slanderers, God-haters, haughty, arrogant, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to their parents,
31 Without discernment, regardless of covenants, without natural affection, unmerciful: -
31 Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:
31 foolish, faithless, heartless, and ruthless.
32 Who, indeed, having acknowledged the righteous sentence of God, - that, they who such things as these do practise, are worthy of death, not only, the same things, are doing, but are even delighting together with them who are practising them .
32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.
32 Although they know God's just requirement that those who practice such things deserve to die they not only do these things but even applaud others who practice them.
