The Righteousness Of God Through Faith In Christ

1 Brethren, the delight of my own heart and my supplication which I address to God for them is for salvation.

1 Brethren, my heart’s desire and my prayer to God for them is for their salvation.

1 Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved.

1 Brothers, my heart’s desire and prayer to God concerning them(a) is for their salvation!

1 Brothers, my heart's desire and prayer to God about the Jews is that they would be saved.

2 For I bear them witness that they have zeal for God, but not according to knowledge.

2 For I testify about them that they have (A)a zeal for God, but not in accordance with knowledge.

2 For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge.

2 I can testify about them that they have zeal for God,(A) but not according to knowledge.

2 For I can testify on their behalf that they have a zeal for God, but it is not in keeping with full knowledge.

3 For they, being ignorant of God's righteousness, and seeking to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted to the righteousness of God.

3 For not knowing about (B)God’s righteousness and (C)seeking to establish their own, they did not subject themselves to the righteousness of God.

3 For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.

3 Because they disregarded the righteousness from God(B) and attempted to establish their own righteousness, they have not submitted themselves to God’s righteousness.

3 For they are ignorant of the righteousness that comes from God while they try to establish their own, and they have not submitted to God's means to attain righteousness.

4 For Christ is the end of law for righteousness to every one that believes.

4 For (D)Christ is the (a)end of the law for righteousness to (E)everyone who believes.

4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.

4 For Christ is the end(b) of the law for righteousness(C) to everyone who believes.(D)

4 For the Messiah is the culmination of the Law as far as righteousness is concerned for everyone who believes.

The Message Of Salvation To All

5 For Moses lays down in writing the righteousness which is of the law, The man who has practised those things shall live by them.

5 For Moses writes that the man who practices the righteousness which is (b)based on law (F)shall live (c)by that righteousness.

5 For Moses describeth the righteousness which is of the law, That the man which doeth those things shall live by them.

5 For Moses writes about the righteousness that is from the law: The one who does these things will live by them.(E)(c)

5 For Moses writes about the righteousness that comes from the Law as follows: "The person who obeys these things will find life by them."

6 But the righteousness of faith speaks thus: Do not say in thine heart, Who shall ascend to the heavens? that is, to bring Christ down;

6 But (G)the righteousness (d)based on faith speaks as follows: “(H)Do not say in your heart, ‘Who will ascend into heaven?’ (that is, to bring Christ down),

6 But the righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this wise, Say not in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (that is, to bring Christ down from above:)

6 But the righteousness that comes from faith(F) speaks like this: Do not say in your heart, “Who will go up to heaven?”(G)(d) that is, to bring Christ down

6 But the righteousness that comes from faith says, "Do not say in your heart, "Who will go up to heaven?' (that is, to bring the Messiah down),

7 or, Who shall descend into the abyss? that is, to bring up Christ from among the dead.

7 or ‘Who will descend into the (I)abyss?’ (that is, to (J)bring Christ up from the dead).”

7 Or, Who shall descend into the deep? (that is, to bring up Christ again from the dead.)

7 or, “Who will go down into the abyss?”(H)(e) that is, to bring Christ up from the dead.(I)

7 or "Who will go down into the depths?' (that is, to bring the Messiah back from the dead)."

8 But what says it? The word is near thee, in thy mouth and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach:

8 But what does it say? “(K)The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart”—that is, the word of faith which we are preaching,

8 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;

8 On the contrary, what does it say? The message is near you, in your mouth and in your heart.(J)(f) This is the message of faith that we proclaim:

8 But what does it say? "The message is near you. It is in your mouth and in your heart." This is the message about faith that we are proclaiming:

9 that if thou shalt confess with thy mouth Jesus as Lord, and shalt believe in thine heart that God has raised him from among the dead, thou shalt be saved.

9 (e)that (L)if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and (M)believe in your heart that (N)God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;

9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

9 If you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,”(K) and believe in your heart(L) that God raised Him from the dead,(M) you will be saved.

9 If you declare with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

10 For with the heart is believed to righteousness; and with the mouth confession made to salvation.

10 for with the heart a person believes, (f)resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, (g)resulting in salvation.

10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

10 One believes with the heart, resulting in righteousness, and one confesses with the mouth, resulting in salvation.

10 For one believes with his heart and is justified, and declares with his mouth and is saved.

11 For the scripture says, No one believing on him shall be ashamed.

11 For the Scripture says, “(O)Whoever believes in Him will not be (h)disappointed.”

11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

11 Now the Scripture says, Everyone who believes on Him will not be put to shame,(N)(g)

11 The Scripture says, "Everyone who believes in him will never be ashamed."

12 For there is no difference of Jew and Greek; for the same Lord of all is rich towards all that call upon him.

12 For (P)there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is (Q)Lord of (R)all, abounding in riches for all who call on Him;

12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.

12 for there is no distinction between Jew and Greek,(O) since the same Lord(P) of all(Q) is rich to all who call on Him.

12 There is no difference between Jew and Greek, because they all have the same Lord, who gives richly to all who call on him.

13 For every one whosoever, who shall call on the name of the Lord, shall be saved.

13 for “(S)Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

13 For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.(R)(h)

13 "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."

Israel's Rejection Of The Message

14 How then shall they call upon him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe on him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without one who preaches?

14 How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in Him (T)whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without (U)a preacher?

14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?

14 But how can they call on Him they have not believed in? And how can they believe without hearing about Him?(S) And how can they hear without a preacher?(T)

14 How, then, can people call on someone they have not believed? And how can they believe in someone they have not heard about? And how can they hear without someone preaching?

15 and how shall they preach unless they have been sent? according as it is written, How beautiful the feet of them that announce glad tidings of peace, of them that announce glad tidings of good things!

15 How will they preach unless they are sent? Just as it is written, “(V)How beautiful are the feet of those who (i)(W)bring good news of good things!”

15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!

15 And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: How beautiful(i) are the feet of those(j) who announce the gospel of good things!(U)(k)

15 And how can people preach unless they are sent? As it is written, "How beautiful are those who bring the good news!"

16 But they have not all obeyed the glad tidings. For Esaias says, Lord, who has believed our report?

16 However, they (X)did not all heed the (j)good news; for Isaiah says, “(Y)Lord, who has believed our report?”

16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?

16 But all did not obey the gospel.(V) For Isaiah says, Lord, who has believed our message?(W)(l)

16 But not everyone has obeyed the gospel, for Isaiah asks, "Lord, who has believed our message?"

17 So faith then is by a report, but the report by God's word.

17 So faith comes from (Z)hearing, and hearing by (AA)the word (k)of Christ.

17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

17 So faith comes from what is heard,(X) and what is heard comes through the message about Christ.(m)(Y)

17 Consequently, faith results from listening, and listening results through the word of the Messiah.

18 But I say, Have they not heard? Yea, surely, Their voice has gone out into all the earth, and their words to the extremities of the habitable world.

18 But I say, surely they have never heard, have they? Indeed they have;(AB)Their voice has gone out into all the earth,And their words to the ends of the (l)world.”

18 But I say, Have they not heard? Yes verily, their sound went into all the earth, and their words unto the ends of the world.

18 But I ask, “Did they not hear?” Yes, they did:Their voice has gone out to all the earth, and their words to the ends of the inhabited world.(Z)(n)

18 But I ask, "Didn't they hear?" Certainly they did! In fact, "Their voice has gone out into the whole world, and their words to the ends of the earth."

19 But I say, Has not Israel known? First, Moses says, I will provoke you to jealousy through them that are not a nation: through a nation without understanding I will anger you.

19 But I say, surely Israel did not know, did they? First Moses says,(AC)I will (AD)make you jealous by that which is not a nation,By a nation without understanding will I anger you.”

19 But I say, Did not Israel know? First Moses saith, I will provoke you to jealousy by them that are no people, and by a foolish nation I will anger you.

19 But I ask, “Did Israel not understand?” First, Moses said:I will make you jealousof those who are not a nation;(AA)I will make you angry by a nationthat lacks understanding.(AB)(o)

19 Again I ask, "Did Israel not understand?" Moses was the first to say, "I will make you jealous by those who are not a nation; I will make you angry by a nation that doesn't understand."

20 But Esaias is very bold, and says, I have been found by those not seeking me; I have become manifest to those not inquiring after me.

20 And Isaiah is very bold and says,(AE)I was found by those who did not seek Me,I became manifest to those who did not ask for Me.”

20 But Esaias is very bold, and saith, I was found of them that sought me not; I was made manifest unto them that asked not after me.

20 And Isaiah says boldly:I was foundby those who were not looking for Me;I revealed Myselfto those who were not asking for Me.(AC)(p)

20 And Isaiah boldly says, "I was found by those who were not looking for me; I was revealed to those who were not asking for me."

21 But unto Israel he says, All the day long I have stretched out my hands unto a people disobeying and opposing.

21 But as for Israel He says, “(AF)All the day long I have stretched out My hands to a disobedient and obstinate people.”

21 But to Israel he saith, All day long I have stretched forth my hands unto a disobedient and gainsaying people.

21 But to Israel he says: All day long I have spread out My hands to a disobedient and defiant people.(AD)(q)

21 But about Israel he says, "All day long I have held out my hands to a disobedient and rebellious people."
