A Plea For Repentance

¹ The word of Jehovah (YHWH) came to Zechariah the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo, the prophet. It was in the eighth month, in the second year of Darius the king: ² “The Lord was very angry with your fathers. ³ Tell them, Jehovah of Hosts has said: Jehovah of Hosts says return to me and I will return to you.

Jeremiah 44:6

I poured out my anger and fury on the towns of Judah and on the streets of Jerusalem. I set them on fire. They were left in ruins and became a horrifying sight, as they are today.'

2 Kings 22:16-17

This is what Jehovah says: I am going to bring disaster on this place and on the people living here. This is according to everything written in the book that the king of Judah has read.

2 Kings 22:19

You had a change of heart and humbled yourself in front of Jehovah when you heard my words against this place and those who live here. I said that those who live here would be destroyed and cursed. You also tore your clothes in distress and cried in front of me. So I will listen to you,' declares Jehovah.

2 Kings 23:26

Still the heat of Jehovah's anger was not turned back from Judah. This is because of all Manasseh had done in moving him to anger.

2 Chronicles 36:13-20

Zedekiah also rebelled against King Nebuchadnezzar. Nebuchadnezzar made Zedekiah swear an oath of allegiance to him in God's name. But Zedekiah became so stubborn and so impossible to deal with that he refused to turn back to Jehovah the God of Israel.

([Psalm of David]) O God, you have rejected us. You have broken us down. You have been displeased and angry. Restore us, again.

Psalm 79:5-6

How long, O Jehovah? Will you remain angry forever? Will your fury (zeal) continue to burn like fire?

Lamentations 1:12-15

Come to me all you who go by, keep your eyes on me! See if there is any pain like the pain of my wound. For Jehovah has sent it to me in the day of his burning anger.

Lamentations 2:3-5

In his burning anger he cut down every horn (strength) (power) of Israel. He turned his right hand back from before the enemy. He has put a fire in Jacob devouring and destroying all around.

For we have done wrong. We have rebelled against your law. We have not received your forgiveness.

Our fathers were sinners and are dead. The weight of their evil deeds is on us.

Ezekiel 22:31

Therefore I have poured out my indignation on them! I have consumed them with the fire of my wrath (intense anger). / Their way I have brought upon their heads,' declares the Lord Jehovah.

Daniel 9:11-12

Yes, all Israel have transgressed your law and turned aside, that they should not obey your voice. Therefore the curse has been poured out upon us. It is the oath that is written in the Law of Moses the servant of God. We have sinned against you.

Which of the prophets have your fathers not persecuted? They killed those who announced in advance the coming of the righteous one whom you have betrayed and murdered.
