Zechariah's Third Vision
1 I shall lift up mine eyes and see, and behold, a man, and in his hand a cord of measure.
1 I lifted up mine eyes again, and looked, and behold a man with a measuring line in his hand.
1 (a)Then I lifted up my eyes and looked, and behold, there was a man with a (A)measuring line in his hand.
1 Then I looked up and saw a man with a measuring line in his hand.
2 And saying, Whither goest thou? And he will say to me, To measure Jerusalem, to see according to what its breadth, and according to what its length.
2 Then said I, Whither goest thou? And he said unto me, To measure Jerusalem, to see what is the breadth thereof, and what is the length thereof.
2 So I said, “Where are you going?” And he said to me, “To (B)measure Jerusalem, to see how wide it is and how long it is.”
2 I asked, “Where are you going?”He answered me, “To measure Jerusalem to determine its width and length.”
2 I asked, "Where are you going?" He responded, "To measure Jerusalem in order to determine its width and length."
3 And behold, the messenger speaking with me went forth, and another messenger went forth to meet him:
3 And, behold, the angel that talked with me went forth, and another angel went out to meet him,
3 And behold, the (C)angel who was speaking with me was going out, and another angel was coming out to meet him,
3 Then the angel who was speaking with me went out, and another angel went out to meet him.
3 Look! That angel who was talking to me left, and another angel came forward to meet him.
4 And he will say to him, Run, speak to this youth, saying, Jerusalem shall be inhabited an open country from the multitude of men and cattle in the midst of her.
4 And said unto him, Run, speak to this young man, saying, Jerusalem shall be inhabited as towns without walls for the multitude of men and cattle therein:
4 and said to him, “Run, speak to that (D)young man, saying, ‘(E)Jerusalem will be inhabited (b)(F)without walls because of the (G)multitude of men and cattle within it.
4 He said to him, “Run and tell this young man: Jerusalem will be inhabited without walls because of the number of people and livestock in it.”(A)
4 That other angel told him, "Run and tell that young man: "Jerusalem will be an inhabited city without walls due to the number of people and livestock within it.
5 And I will be to her, says Jehovah, a wall of fire round about, and I will be for glory in the midst of her.
5 For I, saith the LORD, will be unto her a wall of fire round about, and will be the glory in the midst of her.
5 For I,’ declares the Lord, ‘will be a (H)wall of fire (c)around her, and I will be the (I)glory in her midst.’”
5 The declaration of the Lord: “I will be a wall(B) of fire around it, and I will be the glory within it.”
5 I myself will be an encircling rampart of fire,' declares the LORD, "and I will be the glory in her midst.'
The Exiles Are Called Home
6 Alas! alas! and flee ye from the land of the north, says Jehovah: for as the four winds of the heavens I spread you abroad, says Jehovah.
6 Ho, ho, come forth, and flee from the land of the north, saith the LORD: for I have spread you abroad as the four winds of the heaven, saith the LORD.
6 “(d)Ho there! (J)Flee from the land of the north,” declares the Lord, “for I have (K)dispersed you as the four winds of the heavens,” declares the Lord.
6 “Get up! Leave the land of the north”(C)—this is the Lord’s declaration—“for I have scattered you like the four winds of heaven”—this is the Lord’s declaration.
6 ""Come now! Come now! Flee from the land of the north,' declares the LORD, "for I have dispersed you like the four winds of heaven,' declares the LORD.
The Exiles Are Called To Come Home
8 For thus said Jehovah of armies: After glory he sent me to the nations spoiling you: for he touching upon you touched the gate of his eye.
8 For thus saith the LORD of hosts; After the glory hath he sent me unto the nations which spoiled you: for he that toucheth you toucheth the apple of his eye.
8 For thus says the Lord of hosts, “After (e)(M)glory He has sent me against the nations which plunder you, for he who touches you, touches the (f)(N)apple of His eye.
8 For the Lord of Hosts says this: “He has sent Me(b) for His glory against the nations who are plundering you, for anyone who touches you touches the pupil(c) of His(d) eye.
8 For this is what the LORD of the Heavenly Armies says: "In pursuit of glory I was sent to the nations who plundered you, because whoever injures you injures the pupil of my eye.
9 For behold me waving my hand upon them, and they were a spoil to their servants: and ye knew that Jehovah of armies sent me.
9 For, behold, I will shake mine hand upon them, and they shall be a spoil to their servants: and ye shall know that the LORD of hosts hath sent me.
9 For behold, I will (O)wave My hand over them so that they will be (P)plunder for their slaves. Then you will know that the Lord of hosts has sent Me.
9 I will move against them with My(e) power, and they will become plunder for their own servants.(D) Then you will know that the Lord of Hosts has sent Me.(f)
9 And look, I will shake my fist over them, and they will become plunder for their former slaves. And you will know that the LORD of the Heavenly Armies sent me."'"
10 Shout for joy and rejoice, O daughter of Zion: for behold me coming, and I dwelt in the midst of thee, says Jehovah.
10 Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion: for, lo, I come, and I will dwell in the midst of thee, saith the LORD.
10 (Q)Sing for joy and be glad, O daughter of Zion; for behold I am coming and I will (R)dwell in your midst,” declares the Lord.
10 “Daughter Zion, shout for joy and be glad, for I am coming to dwell among you”—this is the Lord’s declaration.
10 "Sing and rejoice, daughter of Zion! Take note! I am coming to live in your midst," declares the LORD.
11 And many nations joined themselves to Jehovah in that day, and they were to me for a people: and I dwelt in the midst of thee, and thou knewest that Jehovah of armies sent me to thee.
11 And many nations shall be joined to the LORD in that day, and shall be my people: and I will dwell in the midst of thee, and thou shalt know that the LORD of hosts hath sent me unto thee.
11 “(S)Many nations will join themselves to the Lord in that day and will become My people. Then I will (T)dwell in your midst, and you will (U)know that the Lord of hosts has sent Me to you.
11 “Many nations will join themselves to the Lord on that day and become My(g) people.(E) I will dwell among you, and you will know that the Lord of Hosts has sent Me(h) to you.
11 "Many nations will cling to the LORD at that time and will become my people. I will live in your midst, and you will know that the LORD of the Heavenly Armies has sent me to you.
12 And Jehovah inherited Judah his portion upon the holy land, and he yet chose Jerusalem.
12 And the LORD shall inherit Judah his portion in the holy land, and shall choose Jerusalem again.
12 The Lord will (g)(V)possess Judah as His portion in the holy land, and will again (W)choose Jerusalem.
12 The Lord will take possession of Judah as His portion in the Holy Land, and He will once again choose Jerusalem.(F)
12 The LORD will take possession of Judah as his own property in the Holy Land and he will choose Jerusalem again.
13 Be silent, all flesh, from the face of Jehovah: for he was raised from the habitation of his holiness.
13 Be silent, O all flesh, before the LORD: for he is raised up out of his holy habitation.
13 Be silent, every living thing, in the presence of the LORD, because he is emerging from his Holy Place."
