Matthew 24:45-51 - A Faithful Slave And An Unfaithful Slave

⁴⁵ Who then is the faithful and prudent servant, whom his lord hath set over his family to give them food in due season? ⁴⁶ blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so employed: ⁴⁷ verily I tell you, that he will set him over his whole estate. ⁴⁸ But if that servant be wicked and say in his heart, my master delayeth his coming, ⁴⁹ and begin to beat his fellow-servants, and to revel with drunkards: ⁵⁰ the lord of that servant will come in a day when he doth not expect him, and in an hour which he knows not, ⁵¹ and will cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with hypocrites: where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

⁴¹ Then said Peter unto Him, Lord, dost thou speak this parable to us only, or to all others likewise?

⁴² And the Lord said, Who is indeed that faithful and wise steward, whom his master will set over his family to give out the measure of food in due season? ⁴³ Happy is that servant, whom his lord, when he cometh, shall find so doing. ⁴⁴ Verily I tell you, that he will set him over all that he hath. ⁴⁵ But if that servant say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; and begin to beat the men and maid-servants, and drink, and to be drunken: ⁴⁶ the lord of that servant will come on a day in which he does not expect him, and at a time which he is not aware of; and will cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the unfaithful. ⁴⁷ And that servant, who knew his master's will, and did not prepare himself to do according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes; ⁴⁸ but he that knew it not, and did things deserving stripes, shall be beaten with few: for to whomsoever much is given, of him will much be required; and to whom men have committed much, of him they will demand the more.
