Matthew 26:31-35 - Jesus Predicts Peter's Denial

Matthew 26:31-35

31 Then saith Jesus unto them, Ye will all take offence at me this night; for it is written, "I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered:"

32 but after I am risen again, I will go before you into Galilee.

33 But Peter answered and said to Him, though they should all be offended in thee, yet will I never be offended.

34 Jesus said unto him, Verily I tell thee that this night, before the cock crow, thou wilt deny me thrice.

35 Peter replied, though I should die with thee, yet will I not deny thee. And so likewise said all the disciples.

Mark 14:27-31

27 And Jesus saith unto them, Ye will all of you be made to offend on my account this night; for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered:

28 but after I am risen again, I will go before you into Galilee.

29 But Peter said to Him, though all should be made to offend, yet will not I.

30 And Jesus saith unto him, Verily I tell thee, that to day, even in this very night, before the cock crow twice thou wilt deny me thrice.

31 But he said with the more vehemence, Though I should die with thee, I will never disown thee. And so likewise said they all.

Luke 22:31-34

31 And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you my disciples, that he may sift you as wheat: 32 but I have prayed for thee, that thy faith may not fail; and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.

33 And he said unto Him, Lord, I am ready to go with thee both to prison and to death.

34 But He replied, I tell thee, Peter, the cock shall not crow this day, before thou hast thrice denied that thou knowest me.

John 13:31-38

31 And when he was gone out Jesus said, Now is the Son of man glorified, and God is glorified in Him: 32 and if God be glorified in Him, God will glorify Him in Himself, and will soon glorify Him.

33 Little children, I am to be with you but a little while longer. Ye will wish for me, and as I said to the Jews, "Whither I go ye cannot come", so I now tell you.

34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; ---as I have loved you, that ye also love one another: for by this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, 35 if ye have mutual love to each other.

36 Simon Peter saith unto Him, Lord, whither art thou going? Jesus answered him, Whither I am going thou canst not follow me now, but thou shalt follow me hereafter.

37 Peter saith unto Him, Lord, why cannot I follow thee now? I will lay down my life for thee.

38 Jesus answered him, Wilt thou lay down thy life for my sake? Verily verily I tell thee, The cock shall not crow till thou hast denied me thrice.
