Matthew 16:24-28 - Taking Up One's Cross To Follow Jesus

Matthew 16:24-28

24 Then Jesus said unto his disciples, If anyone will come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. 25 For whosoever desires to save his life shall lose it, and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. 26 For what is a man profited if he shall gain the whole world and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? 27 For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels, and then he shall reward everyone according to their works. 28 Verily I say unto you, There are some standing here who shall not taste of death until they have seen the Son of man coming in his kingdom.

Mark 8:34-Mark 9:1

34 And calling the multitude unto him with his disciples, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. 35 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's, the same shall save it. 36 For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world and lose his own soul? 37 Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? 38 Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed when he comes in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.

1 He also said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That there are some of those who are here who shall not taste of death until they have seen the kingdom of God which comes with power.

Luke 9:23-27

23 And he said to them all, If anyone will come after me, let them deny themself and take up their cross daily and follow me. 24 For whosoever desires to save his soul shall lose it, but whosoever will lose his soul for my sake, the same shall save it. 25 For what is a man advantaged if he gains the whole world, having destroyed himself or having suffered the loss of himself? 26 For whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him shall the Son of man be ashamed when he shall come in his own glory and in his Father's and of the holy angels. 27 But I tell you in truth, there are some standing here who shall not taste of death until they see the kingdom of God.
