(For many walk, of whom I have told you often and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ;

For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel, not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made void. For the word of the cross is foolishness to those that perish, but unto us who are saved, it is the power of God.

And I, brethren, if I yet preach circumcision, why do I yet suffer persecution? Then is the offence of the cross ceased.

Then Jesus said unto his disciples, If anyone will come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whosoever desires to save his life shall lose it, and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.

And he began to teach them that it was convenient that the Son of man must suffer many things and be rejected of the elders and of the princes of the priests and of the scribes, and be killed and after three days rise again. And he spoke this word clearly. Then Peter took him and began to rebuke him. And he, turning about and looking at his disciples, rebuked Peter, saying, Get thyself from me, Satan, for thou knowest not the things that are of God, but the things that are of men. read more.
And calling the multitude unto him with his disciples, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's, the same shall save it.

saying, The Son of man must suffer many things and be rejected of the elders and of the princes of the priests and scribes and be slain and be raised the third day. And he said to them all, If anyone will come after me, let them deny themself and take up their cross daily and follow me. For whosoever desires to save his soul shall lose it, but whosoever will lose his soul for my sake, the same shall save it. read more.
For what is a man advantaged if he gains the whole world, having destroyed himself or having suffered the loss of himself?

For the Christ did not please himself; but, as it is written, The reproaches of those that reproached thee fell on me.

Then Jesus said unto his disciples, If anyone will come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whosoever desires to save his life shall lose it, and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.

Now therefore hearken unto me, O ye sons; for blessed are those that keep my ways. Hearken unto chastening, and be wise; refuse it not. Blessed is the man that hears me, keeping vigil at my gates, waiting at the threshold of my doors. read more.
For whosoever finds me shall find life and shall obtain the will of the LORD.

He that follows after righteousness and mercy shall find life, righteousness, and honour.

And he that does not take his cross and follow after me is not worthy of me. He that finds his life shall lose it, and he that loses his life for my sake shall find it.

And Jesus answered them, saying, The hour comes in which the Son of man shall be clarified. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except the grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it abides alone; but if it dies, it brings forth much fruit. He that loves his life shall lose it, and he that hates his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal. read more.
If anyone serves me, let them follow me; and where I am, there shall my servant be also; the one that serves me, will my Father honour.

He also said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That there are some of those who are here who shall not taste of death until they have seen the kingdom of God which comes with power.

From that time forth Jesus began to declare unto his disciples, how it was expedient for him to go unto Jerusalem and to suffer many things of the elders and the princes of the priests and of the scribes and to be killed and to be raised again the third day. Then Peter, taking him aside, began to rebuke him, saying, Lord, be it far from thee; in no wise shall this happen unto thee. But he turned and said unto Peter, Remove thyself from before me, Satan; thou art an offence unto me, for thou dost not understand that which is of God, but that which is of men. read more.
Then Jesus said unto his disciples, If anyone will come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whosoever desires to save his life shall lose it, and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. For what is a man profited if he shall gain the whole world and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels, and then he shall reward everyone according to their works. Verily I say unto you, There are some standing here who shall not taste of death until they have seen the Son of man coming in his kingdom.

For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed when he comes in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.
