Luke 6:17-23 - The Sermon On The Plain: The Beatitudes

17 And he came down with them, and stood on a level place with a great multitude of his disciples, and a great crowd of the people from all Judaea and Jerusalem and the seacoast of Tyre and Sidon, who came to hear him, and to be healed of their diseases. 18 And they that were harassed with unclean spirits were cured. 19 And the whole multitude sought to touch him, because power went out of him and healed all.

20 And raising his eyes toward his disciples, he said, Blessed are ye poor; for yours is the kingdom of God. 21 Blessed are ye that hunger now; for ye will be filled. Blessed are ye that weep now; for ye will laugh. 22 Blessed are ye when men hate you, and when they exclude you, and revile and cast out your name as evil, on account of the Son of man.

23 Rejoice in that day, and leap for joy; for lo! your reward is great in heaven; for thus their fathers did to the prophets.
