John, The First Epistle General of.
There can be no doubt that the apostle John was the author of this epistle. It was probably written from Ephesus, and most likely at the close of the first century. In the introduction, ch.
the apostle states the purpose of his epistle: it is to declare the word of life to those whom he is addressing, in order that he and they might be united in true communion with each other, and with God the Father and his Son Jesus Christ. His lesson throughout is that the means of union with God are, on the part of Christ, his atoning blood, ch.

We have heard that which was from the beginning. We have also seen it with our own eyes. We looked at it and touched it with our hands. It is the Word of life. The life was made known and we have seen and testify about it. We declare the life to you. It is the eternal life, which was with the Father and was shown to us. read more. If we say we have fellowship with him and walk in the darkness, we lie, and do not live (practice) the truth. If we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.
My little children, I write you these things that you may not sin. If any man sin, we have an Advocate (intercessor) (comforter) (helper) with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous! Beloved, I write no new commandment to you, but an old commandment you had from the beginning. This old commandment is the word that you heard.
Everyone who has this hope in him is purified. He is pure.
You know that he appeared to take away sins. There is no sin in him!
We know that we have passed out of death into life, because we love the brothers. He who does not love abides in death.
This is his commandment, that we should believe in the name of His Son Jesus Christ, and love one another. He gave us this commandment!
Every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist that you heard was coming and now it is already in the world.
Beloved let us love one another, for love is from God. Everyone who loves is born of God and knows God.
In this is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation (atonement) (sacrificial payment) for our sins.
We see and testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Savior of the world.
Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God. Whoever loves him that causes the birth also loves him that is born.
Who is the one who conquers (overcomes) (prevails over) the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? This is he who came by water and blood, Jesus Christ. He did not come with the water only, but with the water and with the blood. The Spirit gives witness because it is the truth.
