And the angel came into her presence, and said: Hail, graciously accepted: the Lord is with you; blessed are you among women.

To proclaim the accepted year of the Lord.'

[Note: It was an accepted practice for people in that day to be permitted to do this as they walked along paths bordering a grainfield].

(All the people, when they heard this, and even the tax- gatherers, having accepted John's baptism, acknowledged the justice of God.

I tell you, this man, and not the other, went back home forgiven and accepted by God. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but whoever humbles himself will be exalted."
