His parents said this, because they were afraid of the Jews, for the Jews had already agreed that if anyone owned Jesus as the Christ, he should be shut out of the synagogues.

Nevertheless, many of the rulers believed on him, but on account of the Pharisees did not confess him, lest they should be put out of the synagogues;

I have told you these things, that ye may not be offended. They will put you out of the synagogues;

You'll be thrown out of the synagogues. Yes, a time is coming when the one who kills you will think he's serving God.
