Now as concerning things offered unto idols, we know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffs up, but charity edifies.

Charity suffers long and is benign; charity envies not; charity does nothing without due reason, is not puffed up, is not injurious, seeks not her own, is not easily provoked, thinks no evil, rejoices not in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; read more.
bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Charity is never lost, but prophecies shall come to an end, tongues shall cease, and knowledge shall come to an end. For we know in part, and we prophesy in part. But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away. When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things. For now we see as through a mirror, in darkness, but then we shall see face to face; now I know in part, but then I shall know even as I also am known. And now abide faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

But the end of all things is at hand; be ye, therefore, temperate and watch unto prayer. And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves; for charity shall cover a multitude of sins. Lovingly be hospitable one to another without murmuring.

The law and the prophets were until John; since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and whosoever will presses into it. And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass than one tittle of the law to fail.

But rather seek ye the kingdom of God, and all these things shall be added unto you. Fear not, little flock, for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom. Sell what ye have and give alms; ; provide yourselves bags which wax not old, a treasure in the heavens that fails not, where no thief approaches neither moth corrupts. read more.
For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

Hear me speedily, O LORD; my spirit fails; hide not thy face from me lest I be like those that go down into the grave.

But the fruit of the Spirit is this: Charity, joy, peace, tolerance, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of the heavens. Blessed are those that mourn, for they shall be comforted. Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth. read more.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied. Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the sons of God. Blessed are those who suffer persecution for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of the heavens. Blessed are ye when men shall revile you and persecute you and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely for my sake.

And not only this, but we even glory in the tribulations, knowing that the tribulation works patience; and patience, experience; and experience, hope; and the hope shall not be ashamed, because the love of God is poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit which is given unto us.

Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass or a tinkling cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor and though I give my body to be burned and have not charity, it profits me nothing. read more.

Ye also, giving all diligence to the same, show forth virtue in your faith; and in virtue, knowledge; and in knowledge, temperance; and in temperance, patience; and in patience, fear of God; and in fear of God, brotherly love; and in brotherly love, charity. read more.
For if these things are in you and abound, they shall not let you be idle nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But he that lacks these things is blind and walks feeling the way with his hand, having forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.

And if anyone thinks that they know anything, they know nothing yet as they ought to know.

that undoes the signs of the fortune tellers and makes the diviners mad; that turns the wise men backward and makes their wisdom fade away;

Do all have gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret?

For he that speaks in an unknown tongue speaks not unto men, but unto God, for no one understands him, even though by the Spirit he speaks mysteries. But he that prophesies speaks unto men for edification and exhortation and comfort. He that speaks in an unknown tongue edifies himself, but he that prophesies edifies the congregation . read more.
I would that ye all spoke with tongues, but rather that ye prophesied, for greater is he that prophesies than he that speaks with tongues, unless he interprets, that the congregation may receive edifying. Now, brothers, if I come unto you speaking with tongues, what shall I profit you unless I speak to you either with revelation or with knowledge or with prophecy or with doctrine? And even things without life giving sound, whether flute or harp, except they give a distinction in the sounds, how shall it be known what is played or harped? For if the trumpet gives an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself to the battle? So likewise ye, except ye utter by the tongue a clear and definite word, how shall it be known what is spoken? for ye shall speak into the air. There are many kinds of distinct voices in the world, and nothing is dumb. Therefore, if I ignore the virtue of the voice, I shall be unto him that speaks as a barbarian, and he that speaks shall be a barbarian unto me. Even so ye, forasmuch as ye desire the things of the Spirit, earnestly pursue excellence unto the edification of the congregation . Therefore, let him that speaks in an unknown tongue pray that he may interpret. For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prays, but my understanding is unfruitful. What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also; I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also. Else when thou shalt bless with the spirit, how shall he that occupies the place of the ignorant say, Amen, at thy giving of thanks, seeing he understands not what thou sayest? For thou verily givest thanks well, but the other is not edified. I thank my God, I speak with tongues more than ye all; yet in the congregation I would rather speak five words with my understanding, that I might teach others also, than ten thousand words in an unknown tongue.

In the law it is written, In other tongues and with other lips I will speak unto this people; and yet for all that, they will not hear me, saith the Lord. Therefore, tongues are for a sign, not to those that believe, but to those that do not believe; but prophecy is not for those that do not believe, but for those who believe. If, therefore, the whole congregation is come together into one place and all speak with tongues, and there come in those that are unlearned or unbelievers, will they not say that ye are mad? read more.
But if all prophesy, and there come in one that does not believe or one unlearned, he is convinced of all, he is judged of all; for the secrets of his heart are made manifest; and so falling down on his face, he will worship God, declaring that God is indeed in you. How is it then, brothers? when ye come together, each one of you has a psalm, has doctrine, has tongues, has revelation, has interpretation. Let all things be done unto edification. If anyone speaks in an unknown tongue, let it be by two, or at the most by three, and that by course; and let one interpret. But if there is no interpreter, let him keep silence in the congregation , and let him speak to himself and to God.

Therefore, brothers, earnestly pursue prophecy and do not forbid to speak with tongues.
