Men » Men being the head of women
Let wives [be subject] to their husbands as to the Lord, for the husband is the head of the wife, as also Christ is the head of the church; he is the savior of the body.
I COMMEND you, brothers, that you have remembered all my [instructions], and that you retain the traditions as I delivered them to you. But I wish you to know that the head of every man is Christ, and the head of the woman, the man, and the head of Christ, God. Every man praying or prophesying with his head covered disgraces his head. read more.
But every woman praying or prophesying with her head uncovered disgraces her head; for it is one and the same as if she was shaved. For if a woman is not veiled then let her hair be cut off; but if it is disgraceful for a woman to have her hair cut off, or to be shaved, let her wear a veil. For a man ought not to cover his head, being an image and glory of God; but the woman is a glory of man. For man is not of woman, but woman of man; for man also was not created because of the woman, but woman because of the man. For this reason ought the woman to have a power [veil] on her head because of the angels. But neither is woman without man, nor man without woman in the Lord; for as the woman is of the man, so also the man is through the woman, but all things are from God. Judge of yourselves; is it becoming that a woman should pray to God unveiled? Does not nature herself teach you that if a man wears long hair it is a disgrace to him? but if a woman wears long hair it is her glory; for the hair is given her for a covering. But if any one is disposed to be contentious, we have no such custom neither have the churches of God.

Let a woman learn quietly in all subjection; but I permit not a woman to teach, nor to have authority over a man, but to be quiet. For Adam was first formed, then Eve. read more.

I wish also that men should pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and disputations; and in like manner also, that women in becoming apparel with modesty and sobriety adorn themselves, not with plaited hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly clothing, but with good works, which become women professing godliness. read more.
