Why has the Lord brought us into this land only to be killed by the sword, that our wives and our children should become plunder? Wouldn't it be better for us to return to Egypt?" But on the next day the whole community of Israelites murmured against Moses and Aaron, saying, "You have killed the Lord's people!"
And there was no water for the community, and so they gathered themselves together against Moses and Aaron.
In the camp they resented Moses, and Aaron, the Lord's holy priest.

So Moses did as the Lord commanded; and they went up Mount Hor in the sight of the whole community. And Moses removed Aaron's garments and put them on his son Eleazar. So Aaron died there on the top of the mountain. And Moses and Eleazar came down from the mountain.
