There is no other nation on earth like Israel. This is the nation you rescued from slavery in Egypt to be your own. You became famous by using great and wonderful miracles to force other nations and their gods out of your land, so your people could live here. Israel's Holy God and Savior says to the one who is deeply despised, hated by the nations and is the servant of rulers: Kings will see you released and will rise to show their respect. You are a holy people to Jehovah your God. Jehovah your God has chosen you to be his own special people out of all the nations of the earth. Jehovah set his heart on you. He chose you, even though you did not outnumber all the other people. You were the smallest of all nations. You were chosen because Jehovah loved you and kept the oath he swore to your fathers. So he used his mighty hand to bring you out. He freed you from slavery under Pharaoh king of Egypt.

However you, O Israel, my servant, Jacob, whom I have chosen, you descendants of Abraham, my friend, I took you from the ends of the earth. I called you from its farthest corners. I said: 'You are my servant. I have chosen you and have not rejected you. Do not fear for I am with you! Do not be dismayed for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.'

King David stood there and said: Listen to me relatives (brothers and sisters) and subjects. I had my heart set on building the Temple where the Ark of Jehovah's Covenant could be placed. This Temple will be a stool for our God's feet, and I have made preparations to build it. However God told me: 'You must not build the Temple for my name because you have fought wars and caused bloodshed.' Yet, from my entire family Jehovah God of Israel chose me to be king of Israel for as long as I live. He had chosen the tribe of Judah to lead Israel. Seek Jehovah and seek his strength. Seek his presence constantly! Remember the marvelous works that he has done, his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth. You seed of Abraham his servant, you children of Jacob his chosen ones.

Jehovah has chosen Zion. He wants it for his home. This will be my resting place forever. Here I will sit enthroned because I want Zion. I will greatly bless all that Zion needs. I will satisfy its needy people with food.

Jehovah makes a path through the sea and a road through the strong currents. He leads chariots and horses, an army and reinforcements. They lie down together and do not get up again. I am going to do something new. It is already happening. Do you recognize it? I will clear a way in the desert. I will make rivers on dry land. Wild animals, jackals, and ostriches will honor me.
