I must work the works of him that has sent me while it is day. The night is coming, when no one can work.
Make me to know, Jehovah, mine end, and the measure of my days, what it is: I shall know how frail I am.
In those days Hezekiah was sick unto death. And the prophet Isaiah the son of Amoz came to him and said to him, Thus saith Jehovah: Set thy house in order; for thou shalt die, and not live.
For to him that is joined to all the living there is hope; for a living dog is better than a dead lion.
For both if we should live, it is to the Lord we live; and if we should die, it is to the Lord we die: both if we should live then, and if we should die, we are the Lord's.
For for me to live is Christ, and to die gain;
for we have not here an abiding city, but we seek the coming one.
Oh that they had been wise! they would have understood this, They would have considered their latter end!
Look away from me, and let me recover strength, before I go hence and be no more.
So teach us to number our days, that we may acquire a wise heart.
Whatever thy hand findeth to do, do with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in Sheol, whither thou goest.
Now the light is sweet, and pleasant is it to the eyes to see the sun; but if a man live many years, and rejoice in them all, yet let him remember the days of darkness; for they shall be many: all that cometh is vanity.
