In the multitude of people is the king's glory, but in the lack of people is the destruction of the prince.

The king's favor is toward a servant who deals wisely, but his wrath is toward one who causes shame.


When you sit to eat with a ruler, consider diligently what is before you; put a knife to your throat, if you are a man given to appetite. Don't be desirous of his dainties, since they are deceitful food.

Seeing then that these things can't be denied, you ought to be quiet, and to do nothing rash. For you have brought these men here, who are neither robbers of temples nor blasphemers of your goddess.
