For Paul had decided to sail past Ephesus, so that he would not have to spend time in Asia; for he was hurrying to be in Jerusalem, if possible, on the day of Pentecost.
But since we were taken away from you, brethren, for a short time, in person not in heart, we endeavored the more eagerly and with great desire to see you face to face.

Remind them to be subject to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready for every good deed,
Who is there to harm you if you are zealous for what is good?
Never be lacking in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serving the Lord.
shepherd the flock of God that is under your care, serving as overseersnot under compulsion, but voluntarily, according to the will of God; and not for sordid gain, but with eagerness;
he who exhorts, in exhortation; he who gives, with liberality; he who leads, with diligence; he who does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness.
So it is with you; since you are eager for spiritual gifts, strive to excel in building up the church.
This is a trustworthy saying; and concerning these things I want you to speak confidently, so that those who have believed God may be careful to devote themselves to good deeds. These things are excellent and profitable for men.

As Paul and Barnabas were going out, the people begged that these things might be spoken to them the next Sabbath.
Now these were more noble-minded than those in Thessalonica, for they received the word with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so.
Be diligent in these matters; give yourself wholly to them, so that all may see your progress.
Now finish the work, so that your readiness to do it may be matched by your completion of it, according to your means.
All they asked was that we should continue to remember the poor, the very thing I was eager to do.
Instruct them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, to be generous and ready to share,

But our citizenship is in heaven, from which also we eagerly wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ;
