I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not: if another should come in his own name, him ye will receive. How can ye believe, who receive applause from each other, and the glory which is from God only, ye seek not? Think not that I shall accuse you to the Father: there is one that accuseth you, even Moses, in whom ye trust. For if ye believed Moses, ye would believe me; for he wrote concerning me: but if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words?
For as the Father hath life in Himself, so hath He given also to the Son to have life in Himself. And hath given Him authority also to execute judgement, because He is the Son of man. Wonder not at this; for the time is coming, in which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, and shall come forth, they that have done good to the resurrection of life, and they that have done evil to the resurrection of damnation. I can do nothing of my self: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not my own will, but the will of the Father that hath sent me. If I alone bear witness of my self, my testimony is not true in law: but there is another who testifieth concerning me; and I know that the testimony, which he giveth concerning me, is true. Ye your selves sent unto John, and he bore witness to the truth: though I need not testimony from man; but I say these things that ye may be saved. He was indeed a burning and shining light, and for a while ye willingly rejoiced in his light. But I have a testimony greater than John's: for the works which the Father hath given me to perform, the very works which I do, bear witness of me, that the Father hath sent me. And the Father who sent me, hath Himself borne witness of me: and yet ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his form. And ye have not his word abiding in you; because ye believe not Him, whom He hath sent. Ye search the scriptures; for ye think that in them ye have eternal life: and they testify of me: and yet ye will not come to me, that ye may have life. Though I desire not applause from men: but I know you, that ye have not the love of God in you. I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not: if another should come in his own name, him ye will receive. How can ye believe, who receive applause from each other, and the glory which is from God only, ye seek not? Being therefore come together they asked Him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore the kingdom to Israel? And He said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or seasons, which the Father hath reserved in his own power. But ye shall receive power from the holy Spirit coming upon you: and ye shall be my witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and Samaria, and to the uttermost part of the earth. read more.
And having said these things, as they were looking upon Him, He was lifted up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. And while they were looking stedfastly toward heaven, as He went up, behold two men in white stood by them; who said, Ye men of Galilee, why do ye stand gazing up to heaven? This Jesus who is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in the manner ye have seen Him going into heaven.

And as the lame man that was healed had hold of Peter and John, all the people being astonished ran together to them to the porch called Solomon's porch. And Peter seeing this said to the people, Men of Israel, why marvel ye at this, or why look ye so earnestly on us, as if by our own power or piety we had made this man able to walk? The God of Abraham and of Isaac and of Jacob, the God of our fathers hath glorified his son Jesus, whom ye delivered up, and denied before Pilate, when he determined to release Him. read more.

Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us, in the righteousness of our God, and of our saviour Jesus Christ: grace and peace be multiplied unto you, in the acknowledgement of God, and of Jesus our Lord; as his divine power hath given us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who hath called us by that glory and virtue, read more.
by which are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises; that by these ye may become partakers of a divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. And to this giving all diligence, add to your faith fortitude; and to fortitude knowledge; and to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience piety; and to piety brotherly affection; and to brotherly affection charity. For if these be in you and abound, they will not suffer you to be idle, nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But he, that hath not these, is blind, or short-sighted, having forgot his baptismal purification from his former sins. Wherefore, my brethren, be the more diligent thus to make your calling and election sure; for if ye do these things ye shall never fall. For so an entrance shall be administered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Wherefore I will not neglect to put you always in mind of these things, though ye know them, and are established in the present truth. And I think it my duty, while I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by way of remembrance: knowing that I must soon lay down this my tabernacle, even as our Lord Jesus Christ hath shewed me. And I will endeavour that after my departure also ye may always be able to call these things to remembrance. For we did not follow artfully devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ; but were eye-witnesses of his majesty.

The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto Him, to shew to his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and He sent and signified it by his angel to his servant John, who bare witness to the word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ, and to whatever He saw.
