Hear ye therefore the parable of the sower. When any one heareth the word of the gospel-kingdom, and regardeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and snatcheth away that which was sown in his heart: this is he who received the seed as by the way-side. That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have contemplated, and our very hands have felt concerning the Word of life, (for this Life was manifested, and we saw it; and we testify and declare unto you that eternal Life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us) what we have seen and heard we declare unto you, that ye also may have communion with us: and our communion is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ.

And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse, and He that sat upon it is called faithful and true, and in righteousness doth He judge and make war. His eyes are as a flame of fire, and many crowns on his head: and He hath a name written, which none knoweth but Himself. And the armies in heaven followed Him on white horses, clothed in fine linen white and clean. And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that He may smite the nations therewith: and He shall rule them with a rod of iron: and He treadeth the wine-press of the indignation and wrath of God almighty.

And having appointed him a day, many came to him at his lodging; to whom he discoursed and testified the kingdom of God, persuading them of the things concerning Jesus, both from the law of Moses, and from the prophets, from morning till evening.

but He answered and said, It is written, "Man shall not live upon bread only, but on whatever proceedeth from the mouth of God."

And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, that man shall not live by bread only, but on every word of God.

For in the first place I delivered to you, that which I also received, to wit, that Christ died for our sins, according to the scriptures:

Ye search the scriptures; for ye think that in them ye have eternal life:

To Him do all the prophets bear witness, that whosoever believeth on Him shall receive the forgiveness of their sins through his name.

For he disputed vehemently with the Jews in public, proving by the scriptures, that Jesus was the Christ.

Think not that I am come to abrogate the law, or the prophets: I am not come to abolish, but to compleat them:

And beginning from Moses, and all the prophets, He explained to them in all the scriptures the things that were spoken concerning Himself.

they said therefore to one another, Let us not cut it, but let us cast lots for it, whose it shall be: that the scripture might be fulfilled, which saith, "They parted my garments among them, and upon my vesture did they cast lots." These things therefore the soldiers did.

I testify to every one that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any one add to these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: and if any one take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his part from the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things that are written in this book.

and to preach the acceptable year of the Lord." And He folded up the book, and gave it again to the minister, and sat down: and the eyes of all in the synagogue were fixed upon Him. And He said unto them, this day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears. And they all bare witness to Him, and wondered at the gracefulness of the words, which proceeded from his mouth, and said, Is not this the son of Joseph? And He said unto them, No doubt ye will apply to me this proverb, "Physician, cure thyself, and do here in thy own country what we have heard were done at Capernaum." But, said He, indeed I must tell you, that no prophet is well received in his own country. And I assure you, there were many widows in Israel, in the days of Elias, when the heaven was shut up for three years and six months, and there was a great famine through all the land; but Elias was sent to none of those widows, but to a widow-woman at Sarepta in the territory of Sidon. There were also many lepers in Israel, in the time of Elisha the prophet, and none of them was cleansed; but Naaman the Syrian was.

Endeavour to present thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

separated unto the gospel of God, (which He had promised before by his prophets in the holy scriptures) concerning his Son,

Much, every way: chiefly, because they were intrusted with the oracles of God.

If any one speak, let it be as declaring the oracles of God: if any one minister, let it be as from the power which God affordeth him: that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

For as many as are of the works of the law, are under the curse; for it is written, Cursed be every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law, to do them.

So that faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ; for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth, both Jew and Greek:

And now, my brethren, I recommend you to God, and to the word of his grace: who is able to edify you, and to give you an inheritance among all that are sanctified.
