he came as a witness, to represent what he knew of the light, that by his means all might be convinc'd. he was not that Light, but was sent to testify of that light.

there is another who testifies of me, and I know that the testimony which he gives of me, is true. you yourselves sent to John, and he bore witness to the truth.
