And his disciples came and said to him, Why do you speak to them in parables? And he answered and said to them, Because it is given to you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given;
And when he was alone, those about him, with the twelve, asked him the parable. And he said to them, To you is given the mystery of the kingdom of God, but to those without all things are in parables;
And his disciples asked him, What does this parable mean? And he said, It is given to you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God, but to others in parables; that seeing they may not see, and hearing they may not understand.
Then he put water into the wash-basin, and began to wash the disciples' feet, and to wipe them with the towel with which he was girded. Then he came to Simon Peter; he said to him, Lord, do you wash my feet? Jesus answered and said to him, What I do you know not now, but you shall know hereafter. read more.
