The crowd that remained on the other side of the sea had seen that there was only one small boat there, and that Jesus had not gone aboard with his disciples, but that his disciples had gone away by themselves. What then if you were to behold the Son of man ascending to where he was before? "The spirit is what gives life; the flesh is of no avail. The words which I have been speaking to you, are spirit and are life. "Yet there are some of you who do not believe." For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were who did not believe, and who it was who should betray him. So he added, "This is why I told you that no on can come to me unless it be given from the Father."
