and I remembered the word of the Lord, how He said, 'John, indeed, immersed in water, but ye shall be immersed in the Holy Spirit.'

"I, indeed, immerse you in water unto repentance, but He Who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to bear, He will immerse you in the Holy Spirit and fire; Whose fan is in His hand, and He will thoroughly cleanse His threshing-floor, and will gather His wheat into the granary, but the chaff He will burn with unquenchable fire." but he was hindering Him, saying, "I have need to be immersed by Thee; and dost Thou come to me?"

And he preached, saying, "There cometh after me One Who is mightier than I, the latchet of Whose shoes I am not worthy, stooping down, to loose. I immersed you in water; but He will immerse you in the Holy Spirit." And it came to pass in those days that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was immersed by John into the Jordan.

And, as the people were in expectation, and all were reasoning in their hearts concerning John, whether perhaps he himself were the Christ, John answered, saying to them all, "I, indeed, immerse you in water; but He is coming, Who is mightier than I??he latchet of Whose sandals I am not worthy to loose??e will immerse you in the Holy Spirit and in fire; Whose fan is in His hand, thoroughly to cleanse His threshing-floor, and to gather the wheat into His granary; but the chaff He will burn up with unquenchable fire." read more.
Therefore, indeed, exhorting them as to many and various things, he was proclaiming the good news to the people; but Herod, the tetrarch, being reproved by him concerning Herodias, the wife of his brother, and concerning all the evils which Herod did, added this also to them all, that he shut up John in prison. Now it came to pass, when all the people were immersed, that as Jesus also was immersed, and was praying, Heaven was opened,

And John testified, saying, "I have beheld the Spirit descending as a dove out of Heaven, and He abode upon Him. And I knew Him not; but He who sent me to immerse in water, He said to me, 'Upon Whomsoever you shall see the Spirit descending and abiding on Him, the Same is He Who immerseth in the Holy Spirit.' And I have seen, and have testified, that This is the Son of God."

And Paul said, "John immersed with an immersion of repentance, saying to the people that they should believe on Him coming after him; that is, on Jesus." And, having heard this, they were immersed into the name of the Lord Jesus; and, Paul having laid hands on them, the Holy Spirit came upon them, and they were speaking with tongues, and prophesying.

Now in those days comes John, the Immerser, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea, saying, "Repent ye for the Kingdom of Heaven has drawn near; for this is he that was spoken of by Isaiah, the prophet, saying, 'A voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make His paths straight.'" read more.
And John himself had his raiment of camel's hair, and a leathern girdle about his loins; and his food was locusts and wild honey. Then were going forth to him Jerusalem, and all Judaea, and all the country round about the Jordan, and they were being immersed by him in the river Jordan, confessing their sins. But, seeing many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to his immersion, he said to them, "Broods of vipers! who warned you to flee from the coming wrath! Produce, therefore, fruit worthy of repentance; and think not to say within yourselves, 'As a father we have Abraham;' for I say to you, that God is able out of these stones to raise up children to Abraham. And already the axe is lying at the root of the trees; every tree, therefore, not bearing good fruit, is cut down, and cast into the fire. "I, indeed, immerse you in water unto repentance, but He Who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to bear, He will immerse you in the Holy Spirit and fire;

John answered them, saying, "I immerse in water: in your midst standeth One Whom ye know not??27 the One coming after me, the latchet of Whose sandal I am not worthy to unloose." These things were done in Bethany beyond the Jordan, where John was immersing. Another parable He set before them, saying, "The Kingdom of Heaven was likened to a man who sowed good seed in his field; and, while men were sleeping, his enemy came and sowed tares in the midst of the wheat, and went away. And, when the blade sprang up, and produced fruit, then appeared the tares also. read more.
And the servants of the house-holder, corning near, said to him, 'Sir, did you not sow good seed in your field? Whence, then, has it tares?' And he said to them, 'An enemy did this.' The servants say to him, 'Do you wish, then, that we, going, should gather them up?' He says, 'No; lest, while ye gather up the tares, ye root up the wheat with them. Suffer both to grow together until the harvest. And, in the season of harvest, I will say to the reapers, Gather up first the tares, and bind them into bundles, with the view of burning them; but gather the wheat into my barn.'" Another parable He set before them, saying, "The Kingdom of Heaven is like a grain of mustard seed, which a man, having taken, sowed in his field: which, indeed, is less than all the seeds; but, when it is grown, it is greater than the herbs, and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the heaven come and roost in its branches." Another parable He spake to them: "The Kingdom of Heaven is like leaven, which a woman, taking, hid in three measures of meal, till the whole was leavened." All these things Jesus spake to the multitudes in parables; and, without a parable, He was wont to speak nothing to them; that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through the prophet, saying, "I will open My mouth in parables; I will utter things hidden from the foundation of the world." Then, leaving the multitudes, He went into the house; and His disciples came to Him, saying, "Explain to us the parable of the tares of the field." And, answering, He said, "He that sows the good seed is the Son of Man. The field is the world: and the good seed, these are the sons of the Kingdom; but the tares are the sons of the evil one; and the enemy that sowed them is the Devil; and the harvest is the end of the age; and the reapers are angels. As, therefore, the tares are gathered up, and are burned with fire, so shall it be in the end of the age. The Son of Man will send forth His angels, and they will gather out of the Kingdom all the stumbling-blocks, and those who do iniquity; and they will cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be the weeping, and the gnashing of teeth! Then the righteous will shine forth as the sun in the Kingdom of their Father. He that has ears let him hear.

And another angel came forth out of the Temple, crying with a great voice to Him Who was sitting upon the cloud, "Send forth Thy sickle, and reap; because the hour to reap came, because the harvest of the earth was fully dried. And He Who was sitting upon the cloud sent forth His sickle, and the earth was reaped. And another angel came forth out of the Temple which is in Heaven, himself also having a sharp sickle. read more.
And another angel came forth out from the altar, he that has authority over the fire; and he called with a great voice to him who had the sharp sickle, saying, "Send forth your sharp sickle, and gather the clusters of the vine of the earth; because her grapes were ripe." And the angel thrust his sickle into the earth, and gathered the vine of the earth, and cast it into the great winepress of the wrath of God. And the winepress was trodden outside of the city, and blood came forth out of the winepress even to the bridles of the horses, as far as a thousand and six hundred furlongs.

And they came to John, and said to him, "Rabbi, He Who was with you beyond the Jordan, to Whom you have borne testimony, behold, He is immersing, and all are coming to Him." John answered and said, "A man can receive nothing, unless it has been given to him from Heaven. Ye yourselves bear me testimony, that I said, 'I am not the Christ, but that I have been sent before Him.' He who has the bride is the bridegroom; but the friend of the bride-groom who stands and hears him greatly rejoices because of the bridegroom's voice: this my joy, therefore, has been made full. He must increase, but I must decrease. He That cometh from above is above all; he that is of the earth is of the earth, and speaks of the earth; He that cometh from Heaven is above all. What He hath seen, and what He heard, of this He bears testimony; and no man receives His testimony. He that received His testimony did set his seal to it, that God is true. For He Whom God sent speaketh the words of God; for He giveth not the Spirit by measure. The Father loveth the Son, and hath given all things into His hand. He that believes on the Son has eternal life; but he that disbelieves the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him."

And many came to Him, and said, "John, indeed, did no sign, but all things, whatsoever John spake concerning this Man, were true."
