And I remembered the word of the Lord, that he said, John indeed baptized with water, but ye shall be baptized in the Holy Spirit.
John answered and said to them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but he who is mightier than I is coming, the latchet of whose sandals I am not worthy to loose; he will baptize you in the Holy Spirit and in fire.
Go, and make all nations my disciples, baptizing them into the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit;
He that believeth and is baptized will be saved; but he that doth not believe will be condemned.
And I send forth upon you that which hath been promised by my Father; but do ye tarry in the city, until ye are endued with power from on high.
And when Paul bad laid his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came upon them, and they spoke with tongues, and prophesied.
For by grace ye have been saved, through faith; and this is not of yourselves; it is the gift of God; not of works, lest any one should boast.

And on the day of Pentecost they were all together in one place. And suddenly there came out of heaven a sound, as of a rushing mighty wind; and it filled the whole house where they were sitting; and there appeared to them tongues as of fire, distributing themselves; and one sat upon each of them.read more.

They therefore received his word, and were baptized; and there were added on that day about three thousand souls.
But do ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit,

for as many of you as were baptized into Christ, did put on Christ.
not by works of righteousness which we did, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the bath of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Spirit,
And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness.
These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily, whether these things were so.
praying with all prayer and entreaty at all times in the Spirit; and watching to this end with all perseverance and entreaty for all the saints,
And I knew him not; but he who sent me to baptize in water, the same said to me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending and abiding on him, he it is that baptizeth in the Holy Spirit.

And those of the circumcision who believed, as many as came with Peter, were astonished that on the gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Spirit; for they heard them speaking with tongues, and magnifying God. Are ye ignorant, that all of us who were baptized into Jesus Christ, were baptized into his death? We then by this baptism into his death were buried with him; that as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, so we also might walk in newness of life. For if we have been made completely like him in his death, we shall be made like him in his resurrection also;read more.
knowing this, that our old man was crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that we might no longer be in slavery to sin; for he that hath died hath been set free from sin.

And a certain Jew, named Apollos, a native of Alexandria, an eloquent man, and mighty in the Scriptures, came to Ephesus. This man had been instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in spirit, he spoke and taught correctly the things concerning Jesus, knowing only the baptism of John. And he began to speak boldly in the synagogue. But Aquila and Priscilla having heard him, took him to them, and set forth to him the way [of the Lord] more fully.read more.

But this he said of the Spirit, which those that believed in him were to receive; for the Spirit was not yet, because Jesus was not yet glorified.
Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, Rulers of the people, and elders of Israel!
If ye love me, ye will keep my commandments;
After these things Jesus and his disciples came into the land of Judaea; and there he remained with them, and baptized.
And after much debate, Peter rose up and said to them, Brethren, ye know that a long time ago God made choice among you, that by my mouth the gentiles should hear the word of the glad tidings, and believe. And God, who knoweth the heart, bore them witness, giving them the Holy Spirit, as he gave it to us; and made no difference between us and them, having purified their hearts by faith.

Can any one forbid water, that these should not be baptized, who have received the Holy Spirit even as we have?
