Then they crucified Him and divided among them His clothes by drawing lots, and sitting down they kept watch of Him there. They put above His head the charge against Him, which read: "THIS IS JESUS, THE KING OF THE JEWS." read more.
At the same time two robbers were crucified with Him, one at His right and one at His left. And the passers-by kept hissing at Him, shaking their heads and saying, "You who would tear down the temple and build another in three days, save yourself! If you are really the Son of God, come down from the cross." And the high priests, too, made sport of Him, with the scribes and elders, and said, "He saved others but He cannot save Himself. He is the king of Israel, is He? Well, let Him come down from the cross, and we will believe in Him. He has put His trust in God; let God deliver Him now, if He cares for Him, for He said, 'I am the Son of God.'" Even the robbers who were crucified with Him made sport of Him in the same way. Now from twelve o'clock till three, darkness covered the whole land. About three Jesus cried out with a loud voice, "Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?" which means, "My God! My God! why have you forsaken me?" Some of the bystanders, when they heard it, said, "He is calling for Elijah." So one of them at once ran off and took a sponge and soaked it in vinegar, put it on a stick and held it up to Him to drink. But the others said, "Wait, let us see if Elijah does come to deliver Him." But Jesus cried out again with a loud voice, and gave up His spirit. And at once the curtain of the sanctuary was torn from top to bottom, the earth shook, the rocks were split, the tombs were opened, and many bodies of saints then sleeping in death rose and left their tombs, and after His resurrection went into the holy city and appeared to many people. And the army captain and his men, who were keeping guard over Jesus, who felt the earthquake and saw all that was taking place, were terribly frightened, and said, "Surely this was God's Son." Now several women were there looking on from a distance, who accompanied Jesus from Galilee to care for Him, among them Mary of Magdala, Mary the mother of James and Joseph, and the mother of Zebedee's sons.

Then they crucified Him and divided among them His clothes, by drawing lots for them to see which piece each of them should have. It was nine o'clock in the morning when they crucified Him. And the notice of the charge against Him read, "The king of the Jews." read more.
They crucified two robbers along with Him, one at His right and one at His left. Omitted Text. And the passers-by kept hissing at Him, shaking their heads and saying, "Aha! You are the man who would tear down the temple and build another in three days! Now save yourself by coming down from the cross." The high priests too made sport of Him to one another with the scribes, and kept saying, "He saved others but He cannot save Himself! Let the Christ, the king of Israel, come down now from the cross, so that we may see it and believe!" Even the men who were crucified with Him made sport of Him. At twelve o'clock darkness covered the whole land and lasted until three in the afternoon. And at three o'clock Jesus cried with a loud voice, "Eloi! Eloi! lama sabachthani?" which means, "My God! my God! why have you forsaken me?" Some of the bystanders when they heard it said, "Listen! He is calling for Elijah!" So one man ran and soaked a sponge in vinegar and put it on a stick and held it up to Him to drink, saying, "Wait, let us see whether Elijah does come to take Him down!" Then Jesus gave a loud cry, and expired. And the curtain of the sanctuary was torn in two, from top to bottom. And when the captain who stood facing him saw that He expired in this way, he said, "This man was surely God's Son!" Now several women were there looking on from a distance, among them Mary of Magdala, Mary the mother of the younger James and of Joses, and Salome, who used to accompany Him when He was in Galilee, besides several other women who had come up to Jerusalem with Him.

When they reached the place called "The Skull," they crucified Him there; also the criminals, one at His right and one at His left. They drew lots to divide His clothes among them. Meanwhile, the people stood looking on. Even the members of the council were scoffing at Him and saying, "He saved others, let Him now save Himself, if He really is the Christ of God, His Chosen One!" read more.
The soldiers also made sport of Him as they continued to come up and offer Him vinegar, and to say, "If you are the king of the Jews, save yourself!" Yes, there was a placard above His head: "THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS." Now one of the criminals who were hanging from their crosses kept abusing Him, saying, "Are you not the Christ? Then save yourself and us too!" But the other one reproved him and said, "Do you not fear even God when you are suffering the same penalty? And we are suffering it justly, for we are getting our deserts for what we have done, but this man has done nothing wrong." Then he went on to say, "Jesus, remember me when you come in your kingdom!" So He said to him, "I solemnly say to you, this very day you will be in paradise with me." It was already about noon, and darkness covered the whole country, and lasted until three o'clock, for the sun had failed to shine. And the curtain before the sanctuary was torn in two. Then Jesus uttered a loud cry, and said, "Father, I now commit my spirit to your care." As He said this He breathed His last. When the captain saw what had taken place, he praised God and said, "He certainly was an innocent man!" And all the crowds who had come together for this sight, when they had seen what took place, returned to the city but continued to beat their breasts in grief. But all His acquaintances, and the women who used to follow Him from Galilee in a group, were standing at a distance looking on.

There they crucified Him, with two others, one on each side, and Jesus in the middle. Pilate had a placard written and had it put over the cross: "JESUS OF NAZARETH, THE KING OF THE JEWS." Many of the Jews read this placard, because the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city, and it was written in Hebrew, Latin, and Greek. read more.
So the high priests of the Jews said to Pilate, "You must not write, 'The king of the Jews,' but write, 'He said, I am the king of the Jews.'" Pilate answered, "What I have written, I have written!" When the soldiers had crucified Jesus, they took His clothes and divided them into four parts, one for each soldier, except the coat, which was without a seam, woven in one piece from top to bottom, So they said to one another, "Let us not tear it, but let us draw for it to see who gets it." This was to fulfill the Scripture which says, "They divided my clothes among them, and for my clothing they cast lots." Now this was what the soldiers did. Near Jesus' cross were standing His mother and her sister Mary, the wife of Clopas, and Mary of Magdala. So Jesus, on seeing His mother and the disciple whom He loved standing near, said to His mother, "There is your son." Then He said to His disciple, "There is your mother." And from that very hour His disciple took her to his own home. After this, as Jesus knew that everything was now finished, that the Scripture might be fulfilled, He said, "I am thirsty." A bowl full of sour wine was sitting there. So they put a sponge soaked in sour wine on a stick and put it to His lips. As soon as Jesus took the sour wine, He said, "It is finished!" Then He bowed His head and gave up His spirit.
