AND after six days Jesus took Peter, and James, and John, his brother, and led them up on a high mountain by themselves. And Peter answered and said to Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here; if you please, we will make here three tabernacles, one for you, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah. While he was yet speaking, behold a bright cloud overshadowed them; and behold a voice from the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; hear him. And when they heard this the disciples fell on their faces, and were greatly afraid. And Jesus came and touched them, and said, Arise, and be not afraid. And lifting up their eyes they saw no man, except Jesus alone. And when they went down from the mountain Jesus charged them, saying, Tell no man the vision till the Son of man is raised from the dead. And the disciples asked him, saying, Why then do the scribes say that Elijah must first come? And he answered and said, Elijah indeed comes, and shall restore all things. Then the disciples understood that he spoke to them of John the Baptist.

And Peter answered and said to Jesus, Rabbi, it is good for us to be here; and we will make three tabernacles, one for you, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah; for he knew not what he answered, for they were afraid. And a cloud overshadowed them, and a voice came from the cloud, This is my beloved Son; hear him. And looking round immediately they no longer saw any one but Jesus alone with them. And coming down from the mountain he charged them to tell no man what they had seen, till the Son of man should have risen from the dead. And they kept the word, inquiring with themselves what the rising from the dead meant. And they asked him, saying, Why do the scribes say that Elijah must first come? And he said to them, Elijah comes first, and restores all things; as also it is written of the Son of man, That he shall suffer many things, and be set at naught; but I tell you, that Elijah has come, and they have done to him what they wished, as it was written of him.

AND about eight days after these words, taking Peter, and James, and John, he went up on the mountain to pray. And while he was praying, the appearance of his face was changed, and his clothes became white and shining; and behold, two men conversed with him, who were Moses and Elijah, read more.
who appearing in glory spoke of his departure which he was about to accomplish at Jerusalem. And Peter and those with him were oppressed with sleep; and when they awoke they saw his glory, and the two men standing with him. And when they were departing from him, Peter said to Jesus, Master, it is good for us to be here; and let us make three tabernacles; one for you, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah; not knowing what he said. And when he had said this, a cloud came and overshadowed them; and they were afraid when they entered into the cloud. And there was a voice from the cloud, saying, This is my chosen Son; hear him. And when the voice had passed, Jesus was found alone. And they were silent and told no man in those days any thing of what they had seen.
