Then the Pharisees came unto him, tempting him and saying unto him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for any cause?

Then the Pharisees left and took counsel how they might entangle him in his word.

And the Pharisees came forth and began to argue with him, demanding of him a sign from heaven, tempting him.

And the Pharisees came to him and asked him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife? tempting him.


laying wait for him and seeking to catch something out of his mouth that they might accuse him.

And they watched him and sent forth spies who feigned themselves just men that they might take hold of him as he was speaking, that so they might deliver him unto the power and authority of the governor.

This they said, tempting him, that they might be able to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down and with his finger wrote on the ground.


Then the Pharisees came unto him, tempting him and saying unto him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for any cause?

It was also said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a bill of divorce;



Then the Pharisees came unto him, tempting him and saying unto him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for any cause? And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he who made them at the beginning made them male and female? And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother and shall be joined to his wife, and they shall be two in one flesh. read more.
Therefore they are no longer two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate. They say unto him, Why did Moses then command to give a bill of divorce and to put her away? He said unto them, Moses, because of the hardness of your hearts, suffered you to put away your wives, but from the beginning it was not so. And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication and shall marry another, commits adultery, and whosoever marries her that is put away commits adultery.

For there are some eunuchs who were so born from their mother's womb; and there are some eunuchs who were made eunuchs of men; and there are eunuchs who have made themselves eunuchs because of the kingdom of the heavens. He that is able to receive it, let him receive it.

And the Pharisees came to him and asked him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife? tempting him. And he answered and said unto them, What did Moses command you? And they said, Moses suffered to write a bill of divorce and to put her away. read more.
And Jesus answered and said unto them, For the hardness of your heart he wrote you this commandment. But at the beginning of the creation God made them male and female. For this cause shall a man leave his father and his mother and shall join to his wife; and they that were two shall be made one flesh, so then they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate. And in the house his disciples asked him again of the same matter. And he said unto them, Whosoever shall put away his wife and marry another commits adultery against her. And if the woman shall put away her husband and be married to another, she commits adultery.


Then the Pharisees came unto him, tempting him and saying unto him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for any cause?

Then the Pharisees left and took counsel how they might entangle him in his word. And they sent out unto him their disciples with those of Herod, saying, Master, we know that thou art a lover of truth and teachest the way of God with truth and that thou takest care for no man, for thou art no respecter of persons of men. Tell us therefore, What thinkest thou? Is it lawful to give tribute unto Caesar or not? read more.
But Jesus perceived their wickedness and said, Why tempt ye me, ye hypocrites? Show me the coin of the tribute. And they presented unto him a denarius. And he said unto them, Whose is this image and superscription? They say unto him, Caesar's. Then said he unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's and unto God the things that are God's. When they had heard these words, they marvelled and left him and went away.


Then the Pharisees came unto him, tempting him and saying unto him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for any cause?

And one of them, who was an interpreter of the law, asked him a question, tempting him and saying,

Two men went up into the temple to pray, the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican.


Then the Pharisees came unto him, tempting him and saying unto him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for any cause?

But the Pharisees and lawyers rejected the counsel of God against themselves, being not baptized of him.

But when Paul perceived that the one part were Sadducees and the other Pharisees, he cried out in the council, Men and brethren, I am a Pharisee, the son of a Pharisee, and of the hope and resurrection of the dead I am called in question.

Then a Pharisee, named Gamaliel, a doctor of the law, who had a reputation among all the people, stood up in the council and commanded to put the apostles forth a little space

But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who taught you to flee from the wrath to come?


Then certain scribes and Pharisees of Jerusalem came unto Jesus, saying,
