"Another bears testimony to me, and I know that the testimony which he bears concerning me is valid.

John also bore this testimony, saying. "I saw the Spirit like a dove descend from heaven and rest upon him. And I did not recognize him, but He who sent me to baptize in water said to me, 'The one on whom you see the Spirit descending and resting upon him, is he who baptizes in the Holy Spirit.' Then he consented. And after Jesus was baptized, as soon as he rose out of the water, lo! the heavens opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon him, while a voice from heaven said, "This is my son, the beloved, In whom I delight."

It was at that time that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized by John in the Jordan; and as soon as he rose from the water he saw the sky cleft asunder, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him, and a voice from the sky. "Thou art my Son, my beloved; in thee is my delight."

Now after all the people had been baptized, and Jesus himself had been baptized and was praying, heaven opened, and the Holy Spirit, in bodily form like a dove, descended upon him. and a voice came out of heaven, saying. "Thou art my Son, dearly beloved; in thee is my delight."

At that very time Jesus was on his way from Galilee to the Jordan, to John, to be baptized by him. But he tried to prevent him. "It is I," he said, "who need to be baptized by you, and are you coming to me?" But Jesus answered, "Permit it now, for so it is fitting for us to fulfill every religious duty." read more.
Then he consented. And after Jesus was baptized, as soon as he rose out of the water, lo! the heavens opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon him, while a voice from heaven said, "This is my son, the beloved, In whom I delight."

Come to him then, that living Stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God, and precious.


"Blessed are you, Simon, Son of Jonah," said Jesus; "for flesh and blood have not revealed this to you, but my Father who is in heaven!
