Ye are the salt of the earth, but if the salt be grown insipid, wherewith shall it be seasoned? it is no longer fit for any thing, but to be thrown out of doors, and trodden under foot. Ye are the light of the world: a city, that is situated on a hill, cannot be hid. Nor do men light a candle, to put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick: and then it giveth light to all in the house. So let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your father, who is in heaven.

So his brethren and his mother came, and standing without sent to Him to call Him to them: and there was a multitude sitting about Him, and they said to Him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren are without inquiring for thee. For it seems to me that God hath as it were exhibited us the apostles last upon the stage as appointed to death; for we are made a spectacle to the world, and to angels and to men. We are fools for Christ's sake, but ye are wise in Christ: we are weak, but ye are strong: ye are honoured, but we are despised. Be ye therefore imitators of God as his dear children; and walk in love, even as Christ hath loved us, and given Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for an odor of sweet perfume. But fornication, and all uncleanness, or inordinate desire, let it not be even named among you; for so it becometh saints: read more.
nor ribaldry, nor buffoonery, nor wanton jesting, which are not meet: but rather giving of thanks. For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, (who is an idolater,) hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. But of the times and seasons, brethren, ye have no need of my writing to you: for ye yourselves know full well, that the day of the Lord cometh like a thief in the night. And when they shall say, Peace and safety, then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. read more.
