See thou have the example of the wholesome words which thou heardest of me, in faith and love which is in Jesus Christ.
He is wise and discreet that tempereth his words; and he is a man of understanding, that maketh much of his spirit.
But your communication shall be, 'Yea, Yea; Nay, nay': for whatsoever is more than that cometh of evil.
Let your speech be always well favoured and be powdered with salt, that ye may know how to answer every man.

For in many things we sin all. If a man sin not in word, the same is a perfect man and able to tame all the body.

by the means whereof are given unto us excellent and most great promises; that by the help of them ye should be partakers of the godly nature, in that ye flee the corruption of worldly lust. And hereunto, give all diligence: In your faith, minister virtue; and in virtue, knowledge; and in knowledge, temperance; and in temperance, patience; in patience, godliness; in godliness, brotherly kindness; in brotherly kindness, love. For if these things be among you, and are plenteous, they will make you that ye neither shall be idle nor unfruitful in the knowledge of the our Lord Jesus Christ. But he that lacketh these things is blind and gropeth for the way with his hand, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins. Wherefore, brethren, give the more diligence for to make your calling and election sure. For if ye do such things, ye shall never err. Yea, and by this means an entering-in shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and saviour Jesus Christ.
