A wise man scales the city [walls] of the mighty
And brings down the stronghold in which they trust.

There was a little city with few men in it. And a great king came against it and besieged it and built great bulwarks against it. But there was found in it a poor wise man, and he by his wisdom delivered the city. Yet no man [seriously] remembered that poor man. But I say that wisdom is better than might, though the poor man's wisdom is despised and his words are not heeded. read more.
The words of wise men heard in quiet are better than the shouts of him who rules among fools. Wisdom is better than weapons of war, but one sinner destroys much good.

Or what king, going out to engage in conflict with another king, will not first sit down and consider and take counsel whether he is able with ten thousand [men] to meet him who comes against him with twenty thousand? And if he cannot [do so], when the other king is still a great way off, he sends an envoy and asks the terms of peace.
