let God weigh me on honest scales and he will know that I am blameless.
Common people are only a vapor in the wind. Important people are only a delusion. When all of them are weighed on a scale, they amount to nothing. They are less than a vapor in the wind.
Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, or with the span of his hand marked off the heavens? Who has held the dust of the earth in a basket, or weighed the mountains on the scales and the hills in a balance of the scale?
TEKEL: you are weighed in the balances, and are found wanting.
When he opened the third seal I heard the third beast say: Come! I saw a black horse; and he who sat on him had a pair of scales in his hand.

Therefore remove sorrow from your heart, and put away evil from your flesh, for childhood and youth are vanity.

Stop trusting people, whose breath (life) is in their nostrils. How can they be worth anything?
This is what Jehovah says: Cursed is the person who trusts humans, who makes flesh and blood his strength and whose heart turns away from Jehovah.
It is better to trust in Jehovah than to depend on people.
Do not trust in princes, in mortal man, in whom there is no salvation. His spirit (Hebrew: ruach, breath, life) departs, he returns to the earth; in that very day his thoughts perish (come to an end).
