But mortals will not continue here with what they treasure. They are like animals that die.

David again said: Your father has certainly known that I have found favor in your eyes. He said: Do not let Jonathan know this, that he not be grieved. And yet, as Jehovah lives, and you live, there is only a step between death and me.

He remembered that they were only flesh and blood, a breeze that blows and does not return.

As someone plows and breaks up the ground, so our bones will be planted at the mouth of the grave.

A voice shouts: Cry out! And I said: What shall I cry? The voice shouts: All men are like grass, and all their glory is like the flowers of the field.

The Lord Jehovah says to these bones: I will cause breath to enter you that you may come to life.

You lifted yourself up against the Lord of heaven. They have brought the vessels of his house before you and your lords, wives and concubines. They drank wine from them. You praise the gods of silver and gold, of copper, iron, wood, and stone, which you do not see, nor hear, nor know. You have not glorified the God whose hand holds your breath and life.

Everything on dry land that had the breath of life in its nostrils died.

When Ephraim saw his sickness, and Judah saw his wound, Ephraim went to Assyria and sent to King Jareb. He is not able to heal you, neither will he cure you of your wound.

When you trust Egypt, you trust a broken stick for a staff. If you lean on it, it stabs your hand and goes through it. This is what Pharaoh king of Egypt is like for everyone who trusts him.

The Egyptians are humans, not God. Their horses are flesh and blood, not spirit. Jehovah will stretch out his powerful hand (extend his power). The one who gives help will stumble. The one who receives help will fall. Both will die together.
