O LORD, correct me, but in measure, not in thine anger, lest thou bring me to nothing. Verse ConceptsCorrectionChastisementNothingLet Not God Be AngryGod Requite Them!Judgementwrath

He who chastises the nations, shall he not correct, [even] he who teaches man knowledge? LORD knows the thoughts of man, that they are vanity.

LORD has chastened me greatly, but he has not given me over to death. Verse ConceptsChastisementPunishment, By GodDiscipline From GodNot DyingDeath Averted

Because of chastening ye endure; God is treating you as with sons, for what son is there whom a father does not chasten? And if ye are without chastening, of which all have become participants, then ye are bastards, and not sons. Besides, we indeed have had chastisers--the fathers of our flesh--and we were turned around. Shall we not much more be subordinate to the Father of the spirits, and we will live? read more.
For those men indeed for a few days chastened us according to that which seemed good to them, but he for that which is advantageous, in order to be partakers of his holiness.

For the message of the cross is of course, foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is a power of God. For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and I will frustrate the understanding of those of understanding. Where is a wise man? Where is a scholar? Where is a researcher of this age? Did not God make foolish the wisdom of this world?

Let not one man deceive himself. If any man among you seems to be wise in this age, let him become foolish so that he may become wise. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness before God. For it is written, He who catches the wise in their craftiness, and again, Lord knows the thoughts of the wise that they are vain. read more.
