Thematic Bible: Respect of persons

Thematic Bible

Therefore, now let the fear of the LORD be upon you; take heed and do it, for there is no iniquity with the LORD our God, nor respect of persons, nor taking of bribes.

If I had despised the right of my manslave or of my maidslave, when they contended with me; what then would I do when God rises up? And when he visits, what would I answer him? Did not he that made me in the belly also make him? And did not the same one fashion us in the womb?

How much less to him who is not a respecter of the persons of princes, nor respects the rich more than the poor; for they all are the work of his hands.

For there is no respect of persons with God. For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law, and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law

knowing that whatever good thing anyone does, the same shall they receive of the Lord, whether they are slaves or free. And, ye masters, do the same unto them, forbearing threats, knowing that their Master and yours is also in the heavens and that he is no respecter of persons.

To have respect of persons in judgment is not good; even for a piece of bread, man will transgress.

These things also belong to the wise. It is not good to have respect of persons in judgment.

My brethren, do not have the faith of our Lord Jesus, the glorious Christ, with respect of persons. For if a man with a gold ring and in precious apparel comes into your synagogue and a poor person in vile raiment also comes in, and ye have respect to him that wears the precious clothing and say unto him, Sit thou here in a good place; and say to the poor, Stand thou there or sit here under my footstool: read more.
Are ye not then judging in yourselves and are become judges of evil thoughts? Hearken, my beloved brethren, Has not God chosen the poor of this world that they might be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom which he has promised to those that love him? But ye have despised the poor. Do not the rich oppress you with tyranny and draw you with violence to the courts? Do they not blaspheme that worthy name by which ye are called? If ye truly fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well; but if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin and are accused of the law as rebels.
