If, then, you have died with Christ from the elements of the world, why, as though living in the world, do you submit to ordinances?

For the woman that has a husband, is bound by the law to her husband as long as he lives: but if her husband die, she is loosed from the law of her husband. So then, if, while her husband lives, she be married to another man, she shall be called an adulteress. What, then, was the purpose of the law? It was added on account of transgressions, (till the offspring should come, to whom the promise was made,) having been appointed through the service of angels, in the hand of a mediator. Now, a mediator for one is impossible; but God is one. Is the law, then, against the promises of God? It can not be. For if a law had been given which could have given life, surely righteousness would have been by law. read more.
But the scripture has shut up all under sin, that the promise by faith in Christ Jesus may be given to those who believe. knowing that a man is not justified by works of law, but by faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed on Christ Jesus, that we may be justified by faith in Christ, and not by works of law: because, by works of law no flesh shall be justified.
