But if Christ is in you, the body is dead, on account of sin, but the Spirit is life, on ac count of righteousness. And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he that raised the Christ from the dead will give life to your mortal bodies, because of his Spirit that dwells in you.

It can not be. How shall we that are dead to sin, live any longer in it? Know you not that as many of us as were immersed into Christ Jesus, were immersed into his death? Therefore, we are buried with him, by immersion, into death, that as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, so also we should walk in a new life. read more.

Know you not, brethren, for I speak to you that are acquainted with law, that the law has dominion over a man as long as he lives? For the woman that has a husband, is bound by the law to her husband as long as he lives: but if her husband die, she is loosed from the law of her husband. So then, if, while her husband lives, she be married to another man, she shall be called an adulteress. But if her husband die, she is free from the law; so that she is not an adulteress, though she be married to another man. read more.

What, then, shall we say? Is the law sin? It can not be. Indeed, I had not known sin, except through law. For I had not known evil desire, unless the law had said: You shall not have any evil desire. But sin, taking occasion through the commandment, rendered active within me every evil desire. For without the law, sin was dead. Indeed, I was alive with out the law, once; but when the commandment came, sin be came alive, and I died: and the commandment, which was given for life, I found to be for death.

For I know that in me, that is, in my flesh, dwells no good; for to will is present with me; but to perform that which is good, I find not. For the good that I wish to do, I do not; but the evil that I wish not to do, this I do. Now, if I do that which I wish not to do, it is no longer I that do it, but sin that dwells in me. I find, then, this law: That, when I wish to do good, evil is present with me. For, in the inward man, I delight in the law of God: but I perceive another law in my members, at war with the law of my mind, and making me a captive to the law of sin, which is in my members. Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body that subjects me to death? I thank God that I shall be delivered through Jesus Christ our Lord. Therefore, I my self, with the mind, serve the law of God, but with the flesh, the law of sin.

Now, a mediator for one is impossible; but God is one. Is the law, then, against the promises of God? It can not be. For if a law had been given which could have given life, surely righteousness would have been by law. read more.
But the scripture has shut up all under sin, that the promise by faith in Christ Jesus may be given to those who believe. But before the faith came, we were kept under law, being shut up to the faith which was to be revealed. So, then, the law was our pedagogue that led us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But since the faith has come, we are no longer under a pedagogue: for you are all the sons of God, by faith in Christ Jesus: for as many of you as have been immersed into Christ, have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bondman nor free man, there is neither male nor female: for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you are Christ s, then you are Abraham's posterity, and heirs according to the promise.


But their minds were blinded: for till this day, in the reading of the old covenant, the same vail remains not taken away, which vail is removed in Christ. But to this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart: but whenever their heart shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away.


There is now, therefore, no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus has freed me from the law of sin, and of death. knowing that a man is not justified by works of law, but by faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed on Christ Jesus, that we may be justified by faith in Christ, and not by works of law: because, by works of law no flesh shall be justified. For, through law, I have died to law, that I might live to God. I have been crucified with Christ, yet I live; no longer I, but Christ lives in me. And the life which I now live in the flesh, I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. I do not set aside the grace of God: for if righteousness be through law, then Christ has died in vain.

For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that does not continue in all things written in the book of the law to do them. Christ has bought us off from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us: (for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangs on a tree:) in order that the blessing of Abraham may come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we may receive the promise of the Spirit through the faith.

So, also, we, when we were minors, were in bondage under the rudiments of the world. But when the fullness of the time came, God sent forth his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, that he might buy off those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption. read more.

Let every soul be subject to the higher authorities. For there is no authority but from God: the authorities that are, have been appointed by God. Therefore, he that resists the authority, resists the appointment of God; and those who resist shall receive to themselves condemnation.
