Simon Peter answered and said: Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
And he appointed twelve, that they should be with him, and that he might send them forth to preach, and to have authority to cure diseases, and to cast out demons.
And when it was day, he called to him his disciples; and from them he chose twelve, whom he also named apostles:
whom they set before the apostles. And when they had prayed, they laid their hands on them.
Then, after they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.
And when they had appointed elders for them in every church, with prayer and fasting, they commended them to the Lord, on whom they believed.
This charge I commit to you, son Timothy, in accordance with the preceding prophecies concerning you, that by them you may war the good warfare,
Neglect not the gift that is in you, which was given you according to prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the eldership.
Lay hands hastily on no man, nor be partaker of other men's sins: keep yourself pure.
Wherefore I exhort you to kindle up the gift of God that is in you by the laying on of my hands.
I left you in Crete for this purpose, that you might set in order the things that are wanting, and ordain elders in every city, as I commanded you:

but we speak God's wisdom in a mystery, even that which had been hidden, which God predestined before the ages, for our glory,
Do you not know that those who are engaged about sacred rites have their living from the temple? and that those who attend upon the altar are partakers with the altar? So, also, the Lord has ordained that those who preach the gospel should live by the gospel.
For by grace you have been saved through the faith; and this matter is not of yourselves; it is the gift of God: not by works, lest any one should boast. For we are his workman ship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God before prepared, that we should walk in them.
Let every soul be subject to the higher authorities. For there is no authority but from God: the authorities that are, have been appointed by God. Therefore, he that resists the authority, resists the appointment of God; and those who resist shall receive to themselves condemnation.

You have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and appointed you, that you may go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit may remain; that whatever you ask of the Father in my name, he may give you.

Him God raised up the third day, and caused him to appear, not to all the people, but to witnesses who were be fore appointed by God, even to us, who did eat and drink with him, after he rose from the dead. And he commanded us to preach to the people, and to testify that this is he who has been appointed by God as the judge of the living and the dead. To him all the prophets bear testimony, that whoever believes on him shall receive remission of sins through his name.
Yet the times of this ignorance God overlooked; but now, he commands all men everywhere to repent: because he has appointed a day in which he will judge the world, in righteousness, by the man whom he has chosen, giving to all assurance of this, by having raised him from the dead.
