And one of the elders saith to me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose its seven seals.

And behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same territories, and cried to him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou son of David; my daughter is grievously afflicted with a demon.


And all the people were amazed, and said, Is not this the son of David?

And the multitudes that went before, and that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the son of David: blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord: Hosanna in the highest.

And many charged him that he should hold his peace: but he cried the more a great deal, Thou son of David, have mercy on me.

And Jesus answered and said, while he taught in the temple, How say the scribes that Christ is the son of David?

Hath not the scripture said, That Christ cometh from the seed of David, and out of the town of Bethlehem, where David was?





The Pharisees also came to him, tempting him, and saying to him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for every cause?

Then went the Pharisees, and took counsel how they might entangle him in his talk.

And the Pharisees came forth, and began to question with him, seeking from him a sign from heaven, tempting him.

And the Pharisees came to him, and asked him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife? tempting him.


Laying wait for him, and seeking to catch something from his mouth, that they might accuse him.

And they watched him, and sent forth spies, who should feign themselves just men, that they might take hold of his words, that so they might deliver him to the power and authority of the governor.

This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not.







So also Christ glorified not himself to be made a high priest; but he that said to him, Thou art my Son, to-day have I begotten thee.




And they began to accuse him, saying, We found this man perverting the nation, and forbidding to give tribute to Cesar, saying, that he himself is Christ a king.

And set up false witnesses, who said, This man ceaseth not to speak blasphemous words against this holy place, and the law:


For we have found this a pestilent man, and a mover of sedition among all the Jews throughout the world, and a ring-leader of the sect of the Nazarenes:
