So then they who have faith are blessed with believing Abraham. For as many as rely on the works of the Law are under a curse; for it is written, "Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the Law, to do them." But further, that through the observance of the Law no one is accepted as righteous with God is evident; for "the righteous shall live by faith."

For the Law but shadowing forth the good things to come, and not having the very image of the things, can never with the same sacrifices which they offer year by year continually make those who come with them perfect. For in that case would they not have ceased to be offered, because the worshippers, having been once purified, would have had no more consciousness of sins? For it is impossible that the blood of bulls and goats should take away sins. And every priest indeed standeth performing daily service, and offering again and again the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins; but he, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins, sat down for ever on the right hand of God, thenceforth waiting until his enemies be made his footstool.
