He said to Adam: Because you listened to your wife and ate from the tree about which I commanded you, 'You must not eat of it,' cursed is the ground because of you; through painful toil you will eat of it all the days of your life.
The man and his wife heard the sound (voice) of Jehovah God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day. They hid from Jehovah, among the trees of the garden.
Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived fell into transgression.
Then Jehovah God said to the Eve: What is this you have done? The woman answered: The serpent deceived me, and I ate.
When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it.
He (Adam) answered: I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid.
But you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. When you eat of it you will surely die.
Then the eyes of both of them were opened. They realized they were naked. They sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves.
Therefore, through one-man sin entered into the world, and death through sin. So death passed to all men, for all have sinned.
Jehovah God made all kinds of trees grow out of the ground, trees that were pleasing to the eye and good for food. In the middle of the garden were the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
God did not spare angels when they sinned, but cast them down to captivity in pits of darkness reserved for judgment!
Nevertheless death reigned from Adam until Moses, even for those who had not sinned after the likeness of Adam's transgression. Adam is in some ways like Christ who came later.
Therefore Jehovah God banished him from the Garden of Eden to work the ground from which he had been taken.
When Adam had lived one hundred and thirty years, he had a son in his own likeness, in his own image; and he named him Seth.
