Paul a prisoner of Christ Jesus, and Timothy a brother, to Philemon our beloved brother and fellow-laborer, and to the beloved Apphia,
Wherefore comfort one another, and edify each other, as indeed ye do.
For whatever things were written heretofore, were written for our instruction; that we through patience and the consolation of the scriptures might have hope.
So Joses who was by the apostles sirnamed Barnabas, which is a son of consolation,
These things have I spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have trouble: but be of good courage, I have overcome the world.
Let no corrupt word come out of your mouth; but what is good to useful edification, that it may benefit the hearers.
And after some days Paul said to Barnabas, Let us return and visit our brethren in every city, where we have preached the word of the Lord, and see how they are. And Barnabas proposed to take with them John, who was surnamed Mark. But Paul did not think proper to take him with them, who left them in Pamphylia, and went not with them to the work.read more.
And there was a sharp dispute, so that they separated from each other; and Barnabas took Mark and sailed to Cyprus: but Paul chose Silas and departed, being recommended to the grace of God.
Finally my brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are venerable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are friendly, whatever things are reputable, if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think of these things:
But he, that prophesieth, speaketh edification, and exhortation, and comfort to men.
Let us inflexibly retain the profession of our hope, (for He is faithful who hath promised) and let us observe each other to the incitement of love and good works:
